the M8 seems to be very good and getting good feedback. Looking at getting one this summer going from a Iphone 5.
You won't regret it.A friend of mine recently switched from an iPhone 5 to a One (M7). He has said that he is quite frankly shocked that he put up with it as long as he did. Problem is that people see it as the norm now.
Any recommendations on best place to buy a M8
Having weighed up the options I opted for a Samsung. Not the S5 however, but the S4 Zoom. Part of my decision was based on the requirement to take decent photos for this thread - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
How's that for dedication.

I don't mean to be silly but surely for that kind of use you would use an actual camera? How's that for dedication.
Yes the camera choice/spec does seem rather perplexing. The sensor on the S5 is really good as is the one on my Lumia 1520, but after watching Tested.com's review of the M8, I have to agree with what they say. The photos look great on the phone and they look great shared to services like Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram etc also viewed on phones. When brought up on a desktop they do indeed look poor, but I stopped to think when the last time I actually uploaded a smartphone picture to my computer to look at or edit and the answer is never.
So a 4MP shooter designed for better low light where many of the higher res snappers struggle anyway seems like a considered trade off and I think I'd be more than happy with that.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned recently is just how good the speakers on the M8 are for playing media. Even if they're no longer BeatsAudio certified (whatever tangible benefit that brings), they're head-and-shoulders above 99% of the rest of the market.
I also took delivery of the BoomBass accessory today, a Bluetooth connected stand-cum-speaker that injects some real bass into the M8's audio output. Playing various youtube song videos, some tunes off my library, and even watching some downloaded films the sound quality is simply outstanding. I'm not normally one for listening to music one my phone, but this is so good it's had me going through hours worth of digital content just because.

The output from such tiny speakers really is remarkable isn't it.I also took delivery of the BoomBass accessory today, a Bluetooth connected stand-cum-speaker that injects some real bass into the M8's audio output. Don't get suckered in by the 'Beats Audio' crap; it was just an EQ setting cleverly marketed as a brand to idiots who spent hundreds on sub-par earphones and headphones. Someone with Beats Audio headphones immediately tells me that they know nothing about audio or actually like high-quality audio.
Morning M8s ()
A new problem this morning - Cannot make any calls - It sends/receives texts ok and I also received a call. Go to Call Barring settings and everything is "Disabled" (odd how I received the call). I try to reset but get a "Network or SIM card error" (odd given I received the call).
Not quite sure what is going on here - Any pointers (yes I am in the process of Googling but no joy as yet!)
Thanks

We received our M8's yesterday but Vodafone have sent the wrong size SIM.
I had a play anyway. I'm impressed with the build quality, and the screen is lovely. The speakers are nothing short of sensational for a mobile phone and it'll be interesting to hear them complemented by the 'woofer' that's on the way soon hopefully.
However - I don't like the HTC launcher. Whether it's because I'm a luddite and too comfortable with my Nexus 4 and Nova Launcher I'm not sure. But after an hour of playing yesterday the One just seems like a bigger, better-specced version of my N4. I like the camera though, some of the features are pretty cool.
I'm not sure what I was expecting to be honest, but I'll use the phone over the weekend and decide on Monday whether to keep them or not.
