Anyone tempted to root and re-ROM yet? Some of the custom ROMs look pretty good.

Has anybody bought one of these cards for the M8 ?

It says the M8 can take "microSD, microSDHC, microSDXC up to 128 GB"

And that SD card from amazon is 'Micro SDXC' but also states "micro SDXC cards are not compatible with micro SDHC-enabled devices/readers".

So if the phone is also an SDHC-enabled device, does that mean it can't read that memory card then ?

Anyone on here had problems with scratches on the camera lens? Found a lot of people complaining about it over here, with photo evidence:

I bought the exact same card. Works fine

Chaps, how do you find the battery life on the phone? (Especially compared to an iphone if anyone had moved that way)

Did it the day it arrived... I'd been persuaded into rooting my tablet a few weeks previously following it receiving the Kitkat "update" and discovering just how much of an annoyance the new SD card access restrictions were, and having rooted that I then started to discover how indispensible some of the root-only apps were. So when the M8 was delivered I knew I didn't want to start setting it up until it'd been rooted as well - easier to root first and then set it up to my liking than to start setting it up, root it and have to start all over again.

With the rooting out of the way I then figured what the heck and installed the ARHD ROM. Not having spent that much time messing around with the stock ROM prior to rooting it, I honestly can't say if the claimed improvements in ARHD are as big a deal in reality as they sound on paper, but neither has it given me any cause for concern in the month or so I've been using it.

Looking at it, there are certainly marks on it. Nothing that seems to be affecting pictures though. This now has me worried about it though, I do keep the phone in a pocket on its own though so shouldn't be too many chances of it getting fked up.

You look at the top and there's like this little bar thing which tells you how much is left. wobble

I have noticed that it diminishes at a much more miserly rate than the one on my 4S... wink

Regarding the camera scratches thing, I've checked now and noticed some teeny tiny hairline scratches on the lens surround, not a good sign after only a 2/3 weeks of ownership. It's not affecting pictures in anyway which are amazeballs but I'll be keeping an eye on it. If the 'issue' develops into something more serious across the board then hopefully HTC will be able to deal with it.

I haven't rooted or ROM'd yet (quite an achievement as I'm sure those who know what I'm like will attest to!). I'm waiting to see whether any warranty issues arise first what with the phone being so new and the speed with which it came to market.

It's been fine so far though, touch wood. Adverts are annoying as fk though.

Interesting, thanks. Did you use a 'rooting toolkit' or carry out all the steps manually?

I ordered the car kit from Ebay on the 8th and it still hasn't arrived. The vendor assures me it was dispatched, so it looks like it has been lost in the post. I'm desperate for one before the weekend as I have a long drive down to Newquay, so I might order one from elsewhere in the meantime which means I'll have a spare if anyone on here wants it for what I paid.

Did you order it from that seller on eBay I recommended? I opted for their 'deliver to Argos next day' option as I wanted mine quick and it arrived in less than 24 hours.

Buggery buggery buggery ...wife's just moved from a iPhone to the m8, arrived yesterday, myself with a m7 and unable to upgrade as yet persuaded her towards the m8 over the Samsung s5 in the belief/hope she wouldn't like it and I could swipe it and get her something she could get on with.

Not likely she love's it and having a play myself just makes my current inability to upgrade worse.

paperbag No, I thought I knew better and just ordered from the first one that came up with decent feedback.

Turns out I'm a dick.

I've ordered another from Amazon so fingers crossed it'll arrive tomorrow. Sounds daft, but it's a six hour trip and I'd really like to be all 'integrated' with Co-Pilot and Spotify etc!

Exactly. I can't believe how much you paid for yours. They saw you coming. wink
