I've just watched the first min and a half of that. The chap doing the review might be one of the most annoying people I have ever heard. He's either high or drunk, can hardly string a sentece together.
Sounds a bit like a disability to me.

I think expandable memory would be what makes the decision for me too. I have had mine since not long after release and only lately have I truly filled the 32Gb onboard. If they can sort out the low light problems with the camera then it is deal sealed.
I've currently got a Galaxy S3 (16GB) fitted with a 32GB SD card; managed to fill mine in about 12 months. I could make do with an internal 32GB, but I rarely hook my phone up to a PC so a SD card makes life much easier for me.

Plus I can take a couple of SD cards with me on holiday and cram them full of films/games, swapping them in and out as required.

I told myself a while back that if this HTC had expandable memory, I'd definitely get it. The problem is I'm reading a lot of good things about the Sony Z2, which has everything the HTC One comes with, but is also dust/waterproof and packs a massive battery...

Choosing a phone is so damn stressful hehe

Still no mention of a mini version, and Sony have only announced a bigger tablet version of the Z2 not a new Compact. It seems a shame that after years of phones getting smaller and smaller, smartphones seem only destined to get bigger frown

Don't even get me started on those new Sonys, I have had HTC phones for 5 years but a phone I can use underwater! How the hell am I supposed to resist that!?

Exactly!

I wasn't particularly fussed about a waterproof smartphone until something occured to me.

I can watch a film in the bath without the fear of dropping it!!!!!

Fair enough, very hard to watch though.

Back O/T though, I'm still not sure about this. The expandable media is a great thing to have but I'm just not sure it's enough. My One X still functions perfectly. The only one of the new releases getting me even slightly excited is the Sony.

I can end my contract now as it ran out last week so it's probably going to be a case of which one I can get my hands on earliest. The Samsung is out of the running though.

So many good new phones out there...

The Sony certainly warrants a close look I think.

that review... jeez. The new HTC One looks really good, need to know what the camera does - almost certainly it will be for blurred background shots I'm thinking. The Sony does look very good.

Reading about that leaked M8 video the kid/kids dad is about to get a massive bking from HTC. Highly secret DEV handset, IMEI numbers on full display etc...

I got 2 minutes in before turning it off before I had to post in the 'Things that annoy you beyone reason' thread!

I've had an HTC One since release and it is hands down the best phone I've ever had. I'll be picking up the M8 in June unless there is something spectacular out there to make me change course.

As for the camera on the HTC One: In real world situations (i.e. indoors, pubs etc. where most people use these cameras) it makes far more sense to have a lower pixel dense sensor as it will likely allow a far lower ISO and thus less noise. The people using it in good light and comparing 100% crops with higher MP cameras are demonstrating nothing useful about the camera and everything about how stupid they are. I'd like to know what people are doing with their phone cameras that require such high MP? Printing mural sized posters for their houses? 4MP is plenty for 16"x20" sized prints.

HTC's bods have been tweeting him and saying "It's not going to be a good week for you, my friend." The article suggests he's already cost his parent their job at HTC and there will be a court case in the offing.

No leak is worth that, although you have to question why the parents weren't keeping a closer eye on that dev unit when it's meant to be ultra secret...!

At last! Somebody else with a brain. It drives me nuts repeating this ad nauseum to people who just, basically, ignore you. "Yeah, but I heard the HTC One camera's st..."

If I was given a highly anticipated dev unit I'd keep it bloody secret too!

Plus, surely the first time his finger slipped off the sticker, or when he fked up and moved the camer he would just restart the video and try again. What did he record it on, one time only VHS?

He still has internet access? https://twitter.com/roshanjamkatel

If I were his parents there is no chance in hell he would have internet privileges.

Are we certain his parents got sacked? I understand how serious it is, but it isn't like people haven't already seen the device, and the muppet doesn't really give much away about the new features.

But, back onto the M8.... I think it looks really good, and is probably the only handset right now that could tempt me from the Z2. Added SD slot, bigger battery, updated sense, slightly bigger screen. Very nice.

And then there's the camera - the HTC One had a brilliant camera, although it did seem to suffer a lot from build problems and as it was only 4 UP you couldn't really zoom at all. If, as the rumour is, it has 8 ultra-pixels then that would be incredible, although I don't see how they could do it. I'm guessing the second camera is to effectively simulate a larger aperture (shorter F-stop values)and give us images with a blurred background, like the Z2 and S5. Who knows what else it may do?

I hope it keeps the OIS and maybe builds on the excellent Zoe/highlight reels. I love these. And the cameras low light ability and response are just astonishing - I hope the M8 keeps these abilities.

The only problems is that the Z2 offers much of this as well, and I don't like getting two cameras in a row that look the same.

I can't wait to see some in depth reviews - particularly what Anandtech have to say about it.

I'm hearing rumours that the announcement-to-launch time with the new One will be kept short; a good move if so, however I'm sure we'd have heard something from the manufacturers in the Far East about 'ramping up production' etc - can't be easy to keep a lid on things like that.

So, on the shortlist are the new One and the Z2 although the Z2 has a hefty price tag!

I disagree. 4Mp means relatively tiny pictures that can't be expanded and cropped regardless of how pretty they look on a tiny screen. 4Mp in this day and age is just hopeless. Even my Desire HD is 6 and that's years old. I really hope they improve this as I was getting quite interested in this phone but this would be a major negative for me.

But what use is a 12MP image if it's noisy as hell in anything but perfect light?

Have you seen a price for it?
