I haven't got the scratching to my lens, but that's probably because it spends most of its time in the case. I have another scratch issue though. I bought the HTC dot view case, dropped it with the phone in it, case did a nice job of absorbing the initial impact and no scratches at all, however the phone proceeded to bounce out of the case taking a nice chunk of metal out of the top left and numerous scratches all down the back. Typical!

I had concerns about the security of the phone being held into the dot view case and it's one of the reasons I went for the Spigen.

Hmmm, mine seems to have fallen victim to the Camera scratching issue, was weird though as it happened over night! So, what is the accepted wisdom here, get eh autoglym out or head to CPW to see if they will swap it over?

If the M8 is anything like the M7 then that should file out nicely.

Take a look at the pics I posted and see what you think... Mine's come up beautifully.

I used toothpaste on mine and it sorted it right out. note though you need to use a whitening toothpaste as this has bi-carb in that acts as the cutting compound smile

Just ordered a HTC One M8.

Had Samsung's for a few years (S1,2,3,4) but then swapped my S4 with the GF for her new Nexus 5 (I'm a fan of Google products) but after 4 replacement phones they have agreed to give me a refund.

The Nexus 5 had a few issues including a really annoying one where the phone would go into "roaming" mode alot when it lost signal.. Google couldn't find the issue but removing the standard Google ROM and flashing a custom one fixed it.

Anyway was a toss up between M8, S5,LG G3 and Z2. Didn't fancy the Sony, LG was a no go because the Nexus was a LG and well i'm really bored with Samsung .. so here I am.

Quite fancy the dark red dot view case aswell.

Quick question guys and gals.

The other half has an M8 and her battery life is not particularly good. For example:

Last Saturday we both charged our phones over night (I have a Sony Z2), we used them roughly the same amount over the course of the day (medium/high usage) and by 8pm she had 16% battery, whilst I had circa 45%.

I'd expect the battery life to be very similar between the 2 phones (seeing as they are both current gen flagships), so has she not activated a setting somewhere or is this normal?

I'm guessing the answer would be to install a battery saver app.

Could be anything, have you checked the settings on screen brightness, might be set to max when auto might be better.

Gsam battery monitor is good but there is already an inbuilt one telling you what has been using the battery.

The battery life is the worst thing about the phone, I find myself just leaving it power saver mode throughout the day.

I'm still not having any battery issues. I'm using mine more and more everyday (mixture of music, games, surfing and communicating), I'm yet to get it to go below 30% in about 18 hours (as long as I haven't used a NAV program or bluetooth).

This reflects my experience too, I use it heavily on the train to work each day and fairly heavily throughout the day and have still never run it out.

Do you achieve that by keeping it in power saving mode?

In full fat mode, if I leave the house with 100% by the time I get home it will have about 15% left.

Im not even sure what battery saving mode does but that will last me all day and all night on one charge.

Note im talking about power saving mode not extreme power saving mode which lasts forever.

The standard power saver mode has four sub categories. CPU, screen, vibration feedback and data sleeping when screen is off.

Pretty sure the screen and CPU are the main culprits for sucking the power so I leave it in this mode mostly, with CPU and Display ticked.

Nope, that's just on normal with wifi on all the time, bluetooth off. Google Now and blink feed disabled.

I have them all ticked. Easily get 2 days out of the thing, but normally just hitting 50% (maybe 40) when going to bed and I stick it on charge anyway.

As far as I can see the normal power save mode dims the screen to a level even lower than is selectable (as a minimum brightness, it still auto-compensates for being in a brightly lit location, but never gets really bright).

The wifi is switched off when the phone goes to sleep. I assume data connection is also switched off. I can see the WiFi coming back to life when I wake the phone and then i'll suddenly receive emails and things.

The CPU is capped at about 1GHz as far as I can see using CPU-Z. It will sit at 300 MHz with 3 cores shutdown if you aren't doing anything. If you need full beans, turn the mode off and you can see the CPU hit its peak of 2.2 when needed.

Anyway I came here about the camera. Is the lens made of cheese or something? Mines covered in smeary scratches. Night shots now give point light sources absolutely horrible glows/halos like there is water or Vaseline on the lens. May try polishing it back to see if it improves. Pretty horrible though despite it being in a case!
