I probably should have been more accurate, the screen and the camera are noticeably better than any other phone I've tried. The over saturated colours help with that I don't doubt, but everything just looks that much better to me. I do use the camera quite a lot, so I put a lot more importance on that than others do I guess.

I think you'd like the 6P... Its AMOLED screen is actually Samsung's latest WQHD display and the camera, whilst not quite up there with the S6's, is still excellent: http://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType=5&i...

My only criticism of it is the lack of SD card. That said 4G coverage where I am is excellent and I tend to stream most stuff - mainly music - from my PC without needing to store it on the phone. If I run into space issues I'll sell this one and buy a 64Gb (EE only have the 32Gb on contract, or did when I upgraded).

Add in the fast charging and the incredible battery life and overall I'm very pleased. It's not quite as 'premium' feeling as the One M8 but it's very close.

Just stop using touchwiz then and install another launcher like Google Now for example.
You can't. Touchwiz affects every part of the interface and is ingrained, the launcher is the least of the issues (I'm already using Google Now on my Tab S btw)...

What's remarkable is how Samsung can take such amazing hardware and make it run so badly. I've just put 6.0 on my M8 and it's as slick as my 6P. I actually wondered why I upgraded the other night, the M8 is that good...

Same goes for HTC. My M8 absolutely grinds at times and it really shouldn't. Seems since I got it, its now slower, the camera is less responsive and it seems like I have a ton of additional bloatware added that can't be uninstalled, only rolled back to whatever. I am really starting to dislike Android now, so much so that I think my excursion from iOS, through windows phone and then to Android is going to be over very shortly. Ill be going back to iOS.

My OH is still rocking her iPhone 5. At this point that phone is over 2 years old and aside from being full of selfies to the point you can't save anything else, its still a pleasant thing to use. My M8 is not a pleasant thing to use. It infuriates me.

On the whole my M8 is very quick but, the responsiveness of the camera or rather, lack thereof, is utterly infuriating.

Mine has slowed noticeably, reaction times to most things are pretty poor (especially the camera) and I just can't work out where all the (internal) memory has gone - I've tried to push apps to the SD card, but updates just bring them straight back.

I will do a hard reset at some point, but I know it'll be a giant faff.

If people are looking to move on, I ended up with a 6P a couple of months ago. Bloat free Android is amazing. Absolutley love it!

Agreed, my experience with 6.0 on my Nexus 7 was what drove a lot of my decision to get the 6P.

That's a top recommendation Funk, thank you. I'll admit I hadn't looked very closely at the 6P before, which was probably a bit silly of me considering I started on a Nexus device and I really love vanilla Android.

I think it's telling how many of us have gone M8 > 6P and are happy with the move!

So I've just been upgraded to marshmallow.

Home screen Auto rotate no longer works, what bks is this. And don't get me started on the size of my SwiftKey letters on the keyboard, they've gone tiny.

I'll add in App settings no longer loads - it just sits there spinning. As a result I can't switch off individual app notifications, WHAT A MASSIVE PILE OF bkS.

It's fked my phone basically. Arrrggghhhh!

For whatever reason, my HTC took about a week to settle down from the update - I still want to hard reset it just to clear the internal memory which I can't seem to trim down. System uses 4.8Gb and Apps use 8.67Gb - For some reason I just can't keep memory usage on the internal card down.

And don't get me started on the fact that app updates put the app BACK on the internal memory even when it's moved externally....

Mine updated without an issue, shame to hear you're running into issues with it.

I would go the reset route as JT recommends, see if that solves things. Regarding the rotate - it never did that on the home screen in 5.x that I can recall? It was always portrait...

I don't remember it rotating either. Not on my HTC One...

Actually I'm 100% certain it never did.

+1 (or +100%)

Home screen has never rotated on the last three HTC's I've had (Desire, One X or One M8) with the standard launcher.
