Maybe just a faulty phone, every brand has them? You could give them one more shot, free of charge? For the effort you can keep the battery and quick charger, so you'll have two of each.
One of the issues I have is that, yes it might just be a faulty phone, but to get to a resolution for the situation is proving very difficult. Oppo appear to have created an image that they have a UK trading base but this is in fact not true.

I have opened a case with Oppo on their website (there is absolutely no way of contacting anyone by phone) and they are currently taking "more than 24hrs to respond due to holidays" according to them. I asked them how I go about getting a refund and where to send the phone etc, and they respond by saying I need to do a firmware update. Thanks, but I did that on Saturday and not long after, the phone corrupted my SD card and then just froze. So I now have to wait for another "more than 24hrs" before I get another response.

Add to that, that when I do finally get a refund, it will almost certainly be for the full amount minus shipping costs (which on the invoice are "free") but according to their small print can be randomly anywhere between 10 and 35 euros. This is against the law according to Distance Selling Regs, but as I stated above, they actually do not have any footprint inside the EU so are outside of the regs, despite the website I bought from being called OppoStyle Europe.

So, all in all, I do not really want to extend them any leniency. I have a broken phone, and as of yet, no way of returning it for a refund. To put it into context, I also have a Note 2 which had an issue about 1 year into its life, and I had bought it from Amazon. Amazon told me that it was unacceptable to not have a working phone so dispatched another, brand new, unit to me FOC with next day delivery, and only once I had received it did they ask for the old unit to be returned, against at their expense.

The replacement for the Oppo is going to be sourced from Amazon, just to avoid having the ongoing issues stretch out into weeks rather than hours, if there is a problem (which I agree all manufacturers have them). It is all about how they are dealt with, and Oppo have not covered themselves in glory in any way.

My first post in this thread was asking exactly what Oppo's presence in the UK was for this very reason... Sorry to hear you've had a duff handset, hope you get it sorted swiftly.

I'm glad I went for the One M8 in the end, it's been utterly brilliant and it's nice to know that if things go wrong, I have HTC UK to go back to.

Anyone think this is worth a punt?

I'm sticking with a sim-only reduced tariff and looking for a out right purchase.

For the price, crap I'd imagine. But then again that reduces the 'worth a punt' risk as its not all that much.

Color 2.07 beta is now out and very good. Unified storage is a major improvement, it seems faster and the software is stable. Hopefully Lollipop will soon follow.

Small thread revival, I've had the 7a for over two years now and it's been a good phone, but not perfect (software wise).

However, I've just loaded CM on it and it transformed the phone!
Haven't had any bugs or issues so far, it's like having a new device.

Also, I saw you could get the 7a on a deal for £100 eek On CM13 that means:

Android 6.0
5.5" Full HD
SD card support
...

That is an amazing deal, can't believe I missed that!

Could look into it, here on the continent you really can't use it anywhere yet (just like Apple pay) so doesn't really matter.
