I'm a bit concerned by the fact it's running 4.3 still - it's almost a year old!

How rapid is rapid?
0% to 75% in about 30 minutes. The battery is 2800mah (3000 on the 7) so not small.

they use it due to 4.4 not allowing applications to run from an sd card (without some nasty boot scripting).

I guess colorOS needs to run stuff from sd?

No. They don't come with an SD and have 16gb internal. One thing that is a bit cack is the internal storage is partitioned (3gb for apps). Stick a class 10 32gb card in for £10 though and everything is fine.

Not many android phones come with more than 32gb and few have expandable storage. I guess shipping a phone with 16gb storage keeps the cost a bit lower and providing expandable storage up to 128gb, coupled with JB, means the user can have quite a lot of things installed and decide how they want to use all that space.

If you do still want 4.4 on the Find 7/7a there is already a port (available on XDA) of the Cyanogenmod ROM that comes installed on the OnePlus One.

Do you lose ColorOS though doing that?

Well my Oppo arrived yesterday and I've been setting it up today. The screen is amazing, you do notice the difference over full hd and I prefer it to my Xperia Z. Very fast and nicely made, only draw back was the instructions. Very little in English so reading the forums is essential.

Will play with the camera tomorrow. The OS is defiantly set up for developers.

Just have to drop this here as well.
Some know I'm a F5 owner since over a year. (http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=95&t=1260122&i=999999&nmt=Oppo%20Find%205%20-%20Android%20superphone?)

Just have to shout this out:

My screen cracked (small crack), but hit the digitiser so it became useless.
The casing showed evidence that this might have been due to a drop.
I logged a ticket at support, sent them the phone and...

They are shipping me a NEW device FOC.

WTF.

Top marks from Oppo and I'll never doubt them again. Crazy.

I purchased a F7 for the OH from Oppostyle. It came with a free 6000mah powerbank, I assume in response to the battery life comments.

Given how quickly it charges (22w initially dropping to about 3-4w at 90%) she doesn't find battery life an issue, especially as standby consumption is very low.

There's a website for ordering all sorts of Chinese phones & tablets that I've seen mentioned on here before, but the PH search is throwing up a blank.

Does anyone know the one I'm thinking of?

Is it dx.com? Great for cables and chargers, not so much for phones imho.

Chinavasion (?) (I've just realised it isn't spent 'vision') has been mentioned on PH very recently. I remember another one a few months ago mentioned on PH, selling items such as a 'HDC Galaxys' hehe !

Just to add something into the mix.

I bought my wife a Find 7a as she wanted to move from her iPhone 5s to Android (and liked the size of my Note 2)

We received it and set it up over the weekend but it has already crashed and frozen more times that I can count and this morning has corrupted the SD card full of data. Full reformat is the only option apparently.

The phone is lovely in many ways but it certainly is not hassle or worry free. For this reason, we have decided to return it. I have now found out that, despite being free delivery on the order, they only refund the phone minus a fee to cover postage (website says the fee might be between 10 and 35 euroes - very helpfully vague) despite this being against distance selling regs. A little further delving shows that the Oppostyle company is just a dropship company for the Chinese company and not a part of Oppo themselves, who have no presence in the UK at all so it looks like they can shirk DSR responsibilities. My saving grace will hopefully be that I paid for the phone by credit card through Paypal, so should have the ability to do a Section 75 chargeback if required.

Anyway, just thought I would add this info so that people can make their own decisions. I will now be replacing the Find 7a with a mainstream brand phone bought from Amazon I reckon.

Maybe just a faulty phone, every brand has them? You could give them one more shot, free of charge? For the effort you can keep the battery and quick charger, so you'll have two of each.
