This is awesome and coincidentally i happen to be in blackpool at the moment.

What kind of kit would be needed for this kind of range/agility? With camera/video screen?
A great video and obviously a very skilled pilot.... it looked like he had some serious kit on the roof of the BMW too.

I'm tempted to buy one, but suspect I'd crash it in minutes! My last foray into flying was a 45 second flight in an RC helicopter which ended up in bits on the patio.

Would love one of these but always just assumed they are a couple of grand for a camera one so never bothered.

I would have so much fun with one tho. Does it have to be a spot on no wind day?

If you get one of the ones with the GPS inside (not as expensive as you would expect) they appear to fly well in wind

There are a few videos on YT

I've been looking at getting one of these for some time. However there is a vast price range. There are loads for sale around the £40-70 mark, and then a massive jump up to around £300-£400 mark with hardly any inbetween.

I'm guessing to get any kind of range you're going to need the £300 ones? Surely for £50 they're not going to cut it? I'm not sure I'd be too happy strapping on my £300 gopro onto something which was £50 and then sending it 100m into the air!

I'd be interested to hear from anyone on here who actually has one, and how much they've paid, and what they get for that (i.e. controller, camera, live-view screen?)

I've had a busy month so was fancying a phantom, then a chap brought one to my breakfast meet on Sunday and flew it FPV over the site and my mind was made up.

I'd settled on a phantom vision but see they've got a phantom vision+ coming out with a gimbal so I'm going to wait for that. I can't wait!

Had a play with my friend's DJI Phantom 2 on Saturday, good fun and seems quite robust. His flying skills are improving....very slowly!

I am learning on one of these.

For £50 it is a cool toy, but great to learn the basic flying craft before moving on to something bigger and better.

The Phantom Vision looks good - I like the fact it has a camera already installed as I'm the only person on the planet without a GoPro! Tempting.

You'll be future proofing by buying them separately. I'm looking at the Phantom 2 and then a gopro. It's plug and play so easy to set up. And when 4K HD is standard you can just replace the camera. Not sure you can do that with a Vision?

Not a bad thing tbh, get a Sony Action Cam much much better for this type of thing, battery lasts longer and they have a very good steady cam feature which the GoPro does not have smile

I don't want to get into the whole gopro v sony, but I just wanted to say that the stabilisation on the gopro 3 is probably the best I've ever seen, so it doesn't really need this 'steady cam' feature anyway as I think it's just on all the time......why would you ever need to turn this on/off anyway? I can't think of a situation where camera shake is good!

Erm..... you haven't seen any stabilisation on a gopro 3 black or black + as it doesn't have it.

Trust me on this hehe

From the videos I've seen, the Phantom Vision 2+ (the latest one) the definition and stability is more than I would ever need.

I can't see a price in the UK yet, I assume about £1k. A very expensive toy and I'm wondering how often I would use it. But it's incredibly tempting.

Perhaps I should invest £100 in a base model quadcopter (without a camera) and see if I can fly it around....

Not video related really, but off the back of this thread I've ordered some new parts for my AR drone which has sat in the spare room for the last year after being flowing into the washing line and breaking some of the drive gears hehe

Oh and here it is stuck on some telephone lines (wasn't me btw) whistle I think they get attracted to cables.

I have to say I don't know how some of you guys manage to fly them round with a small screen and out of sight without hitting anything.

Whizzing around national monuments (Big Ben, Eiffel Tower etc) probably runs the risk of legislation being introduced banning them.
