ETA - Just thought I'd mention this thread was originally titled for the Z1 Compact but is now morphing in to a Z3 Compact thread. smile

Looking to replace my Galaxy Note 2 with this phone. Given up on my Nexus 4 due to its woeful battery life. I doubt the Nexus 5 will be any better.

Basically looking for a top spec compact-ish phone with excellent battery life, which the Z1C seems to fulfil.

Anybody got this phone and care to share their experiences with it so far?

I want one but there don't seem to be operators that stock it.

It's a very good phone by all accounts. Z2 too large for you then?

The z2 is about 2cm taller, but less than 1cm wider (73mm to 65mm) but it is thinner. Whilst the compact has a 720p screen the Z2 is 1080p.

But yes, it's a very nice phone indeed and if I was in the market for a smaller screen phone, it is the one I would probably go for,as it doesn't have low end specs like the competition (Samsung try selling a mid/low-end smartphone as a top end phone by calling it Galaxy S4 mini when it is much lower specced...)

Nice size, not too mad with the skinning but a gazillion annoying Sony widgets and icons...Best of the compact bunch IMO though.

Seems like a no-brainer at £372 (just been an Amazon price drop, they'll refund the difference to that which I paid earlier today smile ) for a top end smartphone (apart from the screen, which is still 720p FFS biggrin ) compared with £500+ for the M8 et al!

I had a play in CPW earlier. It's a lovely device, although the flaps might get on my tits after a while.

What sort of warranty do you get with it? Thinking about buying a phone outright and just getting SIM only contract.

I have a normal Z1 and it's a really good phone.

The Sony stuff does grate after a while, but most of it has been removed.

My only complaint would be the size, so the compact should be an awesome phone.

Most of it was. Just go in to applications and remove them, however I am left with Xperia Lounge, which I can't seem to get rid of, though I don't really see it as it's near the end of the alphabet, and some other apps, I just ignore them.

What a cracking little device! All that I wanted really. Battery life using STAMINA mode appears to make it the equal at least of my Note 2, trouncing my Nexus 4!

Cases have arrived over the last couple of days. Used in anger for the first time today.

Excellent sound quality (through buds), which was an important consideration given the vast majority of use will be in the gym or walking out and about listening to Spotify Premium downloads or TuneIn Radio.

Welcomely (may not be a real word biggrin ), speedier and more responsive than recent phones, as you'd expect.

Earlier today I downloaded London Grammar via Amazon Cloud player app, and I've just 'thrown' it to my Panny vt50 which is pretty cool. What I didn't expect was to be able to 'throw' it to my Sonos Play devices. Now that really is cool!!

Only downside is the reduction in screen size which means my 45 year old contact lensed eyes struggle sometimes to read stuff. Hey ho. I can live with that for the time being.

Highly recommended.

I don't have any experience with the Sony devices, but I know the Galaxy S3 has an option in the settings that lets you choose the font size.

I'd imagine there is a similar option on your Z1.

There should be, if you look in Settings -> Display there should be an option to change the Font Size.

Glad you're enjoying the handset, my Z has been superb in the year I've had it, looking forward to replacing it with a Z2/3 when the time comes. The OH is also pestering me to get a Lime Z1 Compact, so I suspect I may have more user tricks for you shortly.

Also if your TV supports it, it's worth playing around with the Screen Mirroring function, tis a ridiculously easy way to get the phone to display on a big screen.

I am heading over next week to the mobile shop to see about a new phone and this was top of my list. I then found out they are releasing the Nokia 930 soon and I like the windows phone as well. hmmmm

I have one - got when they launched and had been waiting for it for ages - replaced Samsung GS2 - I haven't looked back - it's handy to have the charging dock as you don't have to take the cover of to charge it and also you can get to go into silent mode over night, as for the battery life I get two days easily.

Mine arrived yesterday. Came off charge at about 4pm and I've spent a fair bit of fiddling with it setting it up, but haven't made any calls yet as my number doesn't transfer until tomorrow. 20.5 hours on battery and its showing 56%.

Screen is effectively a little smaller than my previous HTC sensation as the back/home/menu buttons are at the bottom of the screen not below it like on my old HTC. The phone itself is almost exactly the same size as the Sensation though.

Like the OP I'm waiting for the cover to arrive in the post before I take to using it properly, but it came with a screen protector in the box (shame they don't have as tough glass as the HTCs though, my sensation's spent 2 years living in my pocket with my keys and has one tiny scratch on it's unprotected screen)

Need to look at removing some of the Sony guff once I've worked out which ones I don't want but there's not really that much on there.

It came with a mini usb plug to standard usb socket cable, not tried it yet but looking at the file manager I think I should be able to connect a USB drive to it, so hopefully can use the phone to back up my camera when on holiday.

Just ordered a magnetic charger cable, it connects to two terminals on the side of the phone to allow you to charge it without having to take the waterproof cover off the USB port.

I'm wondering whether it's worth waiting for the Z2 Compact, in the hope that the Z1 will drop in price?

It was 5 or 6 months from release of the Z1 to the Z1 compact so I wouldn't surprised if it's a while before a Z2 compact shows up.

Just realised I wasn't connected to the work wifi when updating a load of apps and have already used 100Mb of 500Mb contract in the space of 5 minutes. Ooops, my first 4G phone and I'm amazed how quick it is compared to my old Vodaphone 3G (10Mb/s upload and download). Starting to wonder if I should have got for a tariff with more data biggrin

Not figured out how to get PH to open as the standard website rather than the silly mobile one yet, but I have just discovered it comes with a swype style keyboard installed.
