Could you try copying over the settings from your old phone?

Damn - that's a good site - thank you!

Followed the instructions and can now access my e-mails but general internet use isn't happening. No Chrome, no Youtube etc

I'll go into the shop at the week-end - this is taking up too much of my time.

okaaaaay - is this a phone problem or a sim problem?

Followed Geeksquad.co.uk instructions yesterday on EE APN settings.
EE call-centre didn't give me half this info btw. Anyway, clicked/infilled all the appropriate info and tried Youtube - it worked!! Tried Chrome - it didn't work - tried to upload some images to PlayMemories - error message.
Called EE again this morning - "It's definitely a phone settings problem - can I call you on another phone?" No, only got the mobile with me at the moment.
Sooooooo, back to Geeksquad again tonight, just to check on all those APN settings. Nothing! Nothing is "set". When I try to go back - "The Name field can't be empty".
Filled in all the info again - saved - tried the old switching off-and-on again.
Still can't connect to internet - no Youtube, no Chrome, no nothing. "no server connection".
Checked APN settings - all blank again! "The Name field can't be empty".
Totally - TOTALLY fed up now.

After you enter the APN details are you saving them? Press menu (the three dots) and click save. After a few seconds you should see the data connection next to the signal indicator in the notification bar at the top of the screen.

Here are the APN settings as advised by EE.

Yes, that's it - Geeksquad says check for an H, 3G, E or G.
I got an H - but it won't "stick" - disappears quite quickly and no internet connection.
Back into "Settings" / "More" / "Mobile Networks" / "APN's" / - everything is "Not set" - even though I've "set" and saved them several times now.
Phone or Sim?
I'll call EE tomorrow first thing, when I'm still at home with a land-line - sheesh, the shine has truly gone off this phone now.

After you've set it up have you tried power cycling the phone? My internet wouldn't work when I first got it, restarting got it working. Thinking back though I didn't have any email, internet or anything beforehand.

Just to add to this thread, I'm loving my full fat Z3. I've had iPhones since they were launched, and always was tied in to the ecosystem, but haven't got used to Android, and carrying over most of the stuff I need anyway, I really don't see what an iPhone offers over and above the Z3, apart from a finger print scanner.

Christ Almighty! This is like pulling teeth!!

Finally - finally, got onto t'internet. Phone problem, not Sim. Went back to Factory Default settings.

I took some pics, I'm trying to upload what's in the Album - but apparently, my gmail address which I've had for years, is somehow "Invalid".

What is PSN/SM ?

Ahem - sorry, lost the plot yesterday. BT broadband went down first thing and no connection to t'internet on the Z3 - stressful.
Trying to get through to BT is ........ hopeless.
Over the past week, it took 5 calls (last call was 1 hour)to EE going through their whole book of solutions before the nuclear option of factory default solved the problem of dropped APN's.

PSN is the Sony Playstation Network. This is like the Sony equivalent of the Play store where you can buy movies, music etc.

I'm looking to upgrade shortly, what media players are you all using for video?

All my files are 1080p - with the screen on this being 720p does this alter the playback etc?

MX player will play anything you throw at it. Great app and always the first thing I download when changing phones.

Glad you got it sorted eventually.

I have just got a Z3 compact and what can I say, it is fantastic. So quick, lovely screen and the sound quality is a big improvement over my galaxy tablet I have been using previously.

Only started using yesterday but I am not sure if the battery life is going to be as good as i was expecting but I suppose it need a few charges to settle down plus I have been messing around with it. I have found the voice control a bit hit and miss but does anyone use it other than to mess about at first?

quick question, I assume it remains water resitant despite the headphone port being exposed or am i missing a bung?

Really really chuffed with it.

No bung needed, Sony worked out how to waterproof the jack on the Z2, +1 for MX player for video too from me.

I'm about to flog my iPhone 6 for a Z3 Compact.

However, through my research, I've discovered the "pink spot" issue on the camera.

Has anyone experienced this?
