Sony Xperia Z3 Compact - Your Thoughts . . .
Discussion
This is REALLY annoying. . .
On other devices not a problem but on my Compact I can find no way of getting PH to display in Desktop view rather than mobile no matter what I try. I've installed opera, opera mini, as well as the default chrome. I can't force PH to display in desktop, using the available menu options. Even using the Desktop link on the mobile PH homepage fails to work!! Grrr . . .
Any ideas?

Are you using the right URL?On other devices not a problem but on my Compact I can find no way of getting PH to display in Desktop view rather than mobile no matter what I try. I only get mobile if I use mobile.pistonheads.com if I use www.pistonheads.com I get the desktop site.
Weird. I go to www.pistonheads.com but as soon as I click on a link to go to the forum it takes me to the mobile site instead the normal one, but I've just tried typing in www.pistonheads.com/gassing and it takes me to the proper forum

Sorted the mobile / desktop conundrum.
I ordered a magnetic charging cable. Wasn't sure the official dock was worth £20!
I wasn't sure, but I picked one up slightly cheaper in the States and it is pretty useful. Put phone in dock, turn on screen mirroring, watch film on big TV. Pretty damn easy to set up too.I ordered a magnetic charging cable. Wasn't sure the official dock was worth £20!
Ok that's pretty cool, I just plugged my compact camera in to it and automatically scanned the cameras SD card and allowed me to view or copy the photos. Plugged in a USB drive and it allows me to view it in the File Commander. Not enough power to run an external hard drive but I wonder if it would let me attach the camera and a USB drive if I could mind my small USB hub.
Yep, 4.4.2 installed.
Only difference I've noticed so far is when you drag down to get the notifications screen, instead of having sound/bt/wifi/brigtness/settings icons at the top you have to go in to the Quick Setting stab first to get at them, seems like an unnecessary extra step.

Full list of KitKat features above - although please note, these are the Sony extras, there is more in KitKat itself.
The OH has just had her Z1 Compact in Acid Green, and apart from the colour I am very jealous. Compared to my Z it runs like lightning (and the Z is no slouch) and the battery seems to last forever - it managed 3 hours of Miracast streaming last night after a full day's use, and still had about 15% left. The big leap is the camera though, absolutely superb imo, even in low light.
