Am I the only one looking at those pictures and thinking that they look spot on?

Nope. I think they're perfectly ok.

Comparison with a 50D. Full frame shot was similar with a bottle of beer and jar of peanut butter

Well handtec fluffed it, I talked to them 2 weeks ago and they said the Z3 compacts were due in last week, they neglected to update me saying my order for a black z3 compact was delayed to the 27th at the earliest...swines frown will cancel the order this morning and order an orange or white one if i cant find another site that has black.

No, but a comparison shot might give away what he's talking about?

I'd say that if you can't tell the difference between the Z3 and a DSLR photo then the camera is pretty good.... wink

Before the more recent additions to the thread I had one of these down as a potential purchase for a few reasons.

Size. Durability. Camera. Battery life.

Not too bothered about other stuff, but after the camera and cracking issues it seems I might be better off spending around half as much on an S4 Mini..

Are you being facetious or can you genuinely not tell?

I'd say the pic on the left from the DSLR and the one on the right, from the Z3.

Big difference but then I'd expect a DSLR to hump any phone camera.

Looks to me like your lens is dirty - I'd try giving it a clean and see if it improves matters.

I could see the difference, but as I aren't into cameras I have no idea what a 50D is so how would I know it was a DSLR? Also, pictures are very subjective, as without knowing the actual colour of the label on the jar, how am I to know which one is which? Ive taken photos many times and the colours have been different to real life, using a proper camera and a phone.

Well i've had my new Z3C sitting on my desk to a few days, thought i'd wait until my 64gb micro SD card arrived so I had everything before making the switch from my Nexus 4.

So I started everything tonight and...I didn't know the Z3C takes a nano sim whereas I have a micro sim in my N4!!

First time i've heard of a flipping nano sim.

New GiffGaff nano sim duly ordered biggrin

You could have gone to you'r local phone shop as they would have cut it down for you. 3 did that for me when I got my Z3 as I needed to use my old sim in it until the porting went through.

Took delivery of one of these in white Saturday morning from Clove, they got stock in on Friday.

Charged it when I got it and then again last night - so battery is a big tick.

I've come from an xperia S, and like the thin sony skin - and the extra apps are not too intrusive.

the magnetic charging port is great - much easier than opening the flaps to plug in a micro usb...

have a gel case for the phone and glare issues are resolved using the supplied sony screen protector..

Can't see whats not to like - though haven't tried the camera yet.

I had a Bold 9790 and I have a Z1 now. The Z1 is better, but the 9790 wasn't a bad camera at all. The same sensor as the 9900 but with autofocus.
I haven't got a spare inch of floor-space in the workshop, so my "studio" is outside in the car-park. I need to take pics of the products as they're freshly welded and found the 9790 was ............ ok. If you had enough (sun)light - but not too much - I could have a decent image. tbh, I've never managed a good, sharp pic indoors on any camera-phone. N90 was the best - the dust in the workshop got it in the end though.
I bought the Z3 because of the dust-proof claim and of course, the camera!
The 9790 with its open keyboard had a rough time with the dust, so I'm sure the Z3 will be better on that score. It's my first Android, so there's plenty to learn and marvel at.
Sadly, the camera doesn't live up to its spec - and I have tried (and tried) but I'm checking out digital camera reviews now.

Piss poor from HandTec.

Ordered the other day - they sent me a phone that had clearly been used. Dust in the slots and screen protector had been applied.

I had to return it at my own cost despite them messing up which they won't refund.

Certainly won't be using them again.

I've been running with my Z3C for a few days now and I love it!

It is a little smaller than the Nexus 4 it replaced and very much faster.

I have the included screen protector on and a wee red plastic cover (the phone is white) and apart from everyone thinking i've jumped ship and moved to iPhone it;s great biggrin

To be honest, the UI experience is pretty much the same as the N4 it replaced as I use Apex launcher, and Metrostation to create icons with minimalistic text on the home screen (singular) to show date and time. It is a look I have had for over a year now and had it on my N4 and run the same on my N7 tablet.

I love the magnetic desktop charger and the way I can "throw" my phone's screen onto my WD TV Live to see the whole thing on my big ass TV.

Overall, very impressed.

The glass is delicate. Mine developed a crack across the back panel within a few days of getting it. Don't know whether that happened by me having it in a rear pocket or on one of the occasions when it slipped off the sofa arm onto the carpeted floor.

Anyways, I bought a silicon cover, not for strength but to stop the damn phone sliding of everything that had the slightest slope on it. Feels much, much nicer with the case on and stays where you put it now. smile
The back glass on mine also cracked within the first month, it had never been dropped as I was still in the 'new phone' stage where I treated it extremely gently. Thankfully Sony repaired it without any cost. Apart from the issue of it cracking, I'm very happy with the phone. The battery life is fantastic and it generally feels like a big jump from the Nexus 4. Like some others have found, the camera isn't quite as good as I expected, but I've still taken some pretty decent pictures on it. The screen is vibrant and it generally feels really snappy and nice to use. It's also far more stable than any of my previous Android devices.

Here's a photo of the crack.

I'm back on an iPhone 6.

My Z3c cracked within 4 days of getting it, totally un usable with a cracked screen too.

Sony approved a repair under warranty as it is a common problem but estimated a few weeks as they don't have any stock of replacement screens available.

Cracking phone otherwise wink.
