Only issue now is the battery is totally shot at 20 months old.
I sent mine off to Sony and they stuck a new battery in under warranty - could be worth a shot before it ticks over the 2 year mark.
Exactly how did you do that? Usually its "sorry sir batteries are no covered by that"
I want to know so I can do it later on!!

Phones are expected to last the length of a typical contract (24 months) and if the battery isn't user-replaceable then it certainly should be covered by the warranty. I think it helped that mine obviously had a failing cell - it would be fine until ~40% then drop to nothing. Not sure if yours is doing the same?

That's exactly what mine is doing. Was dropping to zero when it hit 50%, now doing it 70%.

I'm about to buy an iPhone SE and then send off the Z1 Compact and sell it on with the new battery.

The same as my Z1 compact too, roughly 70% before konking out, but it only started doing it at about 23 months old. Anyone would think they're only designed to last 2 years...

Though about fitting a new battery but I suffer from "Ooo, shiney" syndrome.

that is the thing about the 5/5s/SE line of phones, the battery is a an easy peasey DIY at home replacement job.

Not as simple but looks like replacing the Z3 compact battery is do-able at home.

Hair dryer to soften glue will help but even if you trash all the bits getting to the battery then worst case would be new back (£8), new glue (£3) and new NFC aerial (£4). May be a good idea to replace the glue every time the back is removed anyway to maintain the waterproofing.

This is the closest topic to what I'm looking for - ongoing Xperia experiences.

Has anyone got a Z2 and hasn't had the Marshmallow update notification?

Has anyone elses started getting a little slower? Mines up to date, whatever the network has sent, but it doesnt seem as snappy as it used to be and battery is still good, but not excellent!

My Z1c definitely got slower as it got older, presumably due to successive OS updates. I replaced it with a Z5c and am a little disappointed with it's speed, it's quicker than my Z1c was towards the end but significantly slower than when it was new. Takes a good couple of seconds to open the camera app and mail or text apps seem to have a noticeable pause between opening and displaying the content.

My Z5P was a bit sluggish on the initial software release, but since moving to Marshmallow it's flown along - however when updating I also moved it off the EE Firmware to an unbranded one, which may have helped. Means I've lost WiFi calling, but reception on EE is that good I haven't missed it.

I fancy getting something to replace my Z3c but I really don't know what, irrespective of spec it must be of a similar size. I really don't like what are the full size phones offered currently.

Seems to be a thing with Sony Z phones, my Z1 was slowing down fairly quickly on stock and modified lollipop ROMs. I've been using Cyanogenmod 12 for a while now and little to no slowdown so far, although you don't get the excellent Sony apps/customisations...

I tried Cyanogen on my old HTC but wasn't that keen, it was a few years ago though.

Interesting point on Sony customisation, I think the only Sony apps I use are the music player the settigns to turn off the ringer when it's plugged in at night, both of which could easily be done with 3rd part apps. It does seem to have a fair bit of Sony and Google crap on it that I never use and can't uninstall (xperia lounge, movie creator, several playstation things...)

I've only just hopped on the Z3C train recently, but one odd and annoying thing I've noticed...

When I unlock it after the screen being off, after about 10 seconds, it'll suddenly get brighter. This happens every time. Any ideas?

It's probably the Auto Brightness adjust taking a second to, well, adjust smile Have a look in Settings -> Display you should be able to switch it off.

It is normally on 3 but I popped my work O2 SIM in to see if there was a difference. Nothing
