Plex is utterly fantastic. I have my PC with the server and home cinema client on it in the living room and can stream video to any of my iDevices around the house. If your home internet UPload speed is quick enough then you can stream over 3G quite successfully whilst you're away. Failing that you can set the client to download a TV series in chunks, so as you watch them it discards the watched episode and queues up the next one for download. I use this all the time - I watch an episode of something whilst on my lunch break - if I'm not feeling social!

Another great feature is, as already mentioned, you can start to watch a video on one device, stop the video and resume it again on at the same point, but on another device immediately after.

It has to be said, though, that you do need to subscribe to MyPlex to get all the features, but considering the features, it's well worth it.

Toxic, have you considered a Pi in place of the Roku? That will run either xbmc or Plex clients and the media goes on the HP microserver. That's exactly what I do.

This is my setup, Pi running openelec XBMC, all files on my desktop (it will be a nice low power server when I get round to it)

Another Plex user here. We have Plex Server and Plex Home Theatre running on a Mac Mini, which has four drives attached to it (one each for audio, video, photos and Time Machine), and sits underneath the plasma in the lounge. In the kitchen we have a Roku attached to a LCD and basic stereo gear. We also have the Plex mobile client apps on the various Android/Apple devices, which we also use as the Plex remote controls, and Home Theater installed on our laptops.

It has really come into its own now I have digitised all our physical media and cleaned up all the tags on the digital files (using MusicBrainz Picard). This took a long time!

I couldn't tell you Most of my files do have a 5.1 soundtrack, but I don't have any 1080p content, nor do I have anything to feed HD audio to.

Plex installed on Samsung smart TV and laptop. Now watching classic Top Gear "Revved up" as Sunday morning TV is tosh.

Set up was fairly straight forward. I have no need for expensive options as I don't take media out of the house with me (bar Google Play for music). I now have fast forward and rewind. smile

Looks lovely and beats the pants off just browsing folder structure as I was previously.

Glad you got it sorted!
