Hi All,

Shortly will be moving into my first place, current owners have said that they can transfer the current Talk Talk phone and internet package over to myself (saving the £120 installation etc.).

Before I say yes is it any good?

I was thinking of getting Sky TV (£27 bundle) regardless - tacking the Sky Broadband onto that would be the other option?

I guess it comes down to which is better, Talk Talk or Sky?

I need fully unlimited internet, I currently download about 3GB of music a month and regularly stream/download films from glowgaze (planning on an Apple TV/Chromecast to aid this shortly). I'd also like an ISP that doesn't block sites automatically, if I want to go to a well known torrent site I'd rather not have to go via a proxy to access it.

I guess I can always have the Talk Talk package transferred so I'm connected from the move in date and then change afterwards?

Can't comment on the rest, but Sky does block many torrent sites.

Sky block torrents, but it's nothing a VPN won't solve.

I've used Sky for broadband for a few years and have no problems with them (including using VPNs, heavy SSL traffic etc).

Yeah, just an annoyance but not a dealbreaker, with BT currently and they do too, just a bit annoying really!

Use a proxy for torrent sites.

I have sky, and have never had a problem in many years of use

Can't comment personally on TalkTalk but some internet browsing on various forums makes for cringeworthy reading. I was recently "migrated" onto Sky's network after being with BeThere for many years and had already made the decision to move from them to a different ISP because I don't like Sky, nor the main man behind it and there are plenty of complaints to be found about the service as well. However, since the migration a month or so ago the service has been brilliant, no issues whatsoever and on the one occasion I did need to speak to them about something I'd messed up, the call was answered swiftly by a English lad who was very clued up on tech stuff and had the issue sorted within a minute. Couldn't have been more pleasant really. I don't have any other products from them, only the broadband, but no complaints here thus far.

I asked this question 12 months ago and the replies I got were " whatever you do dont go near talk talk, Dont go near talk talk, Dont go near talk talk,"

However I ignored this as you do and they have been faultless, yes they tried to have me over come renewal but I'm now actually paying less than the supposed 12 month introductory rate.

I would recommend them.

OP are you in an area that Virgin supply?

I ask because my son moved a couple of weeks ago and the best deal he found was with Virgin. They fitted the kit on a saturday. He messed up the order and the sorted it without question.
The price was IMHO very good, can't remember the specifics but it was something like £20 a month for the first 12 month for 100meg, second to best TV pack and anytime landline.

I have been with Talk talk for a number of years now, and havnt had any issues with them.

Maybe is because all I do on the internet, is emails, bit of surfing, and don't download anything, ie no music or films.

It allows us to call our family for free as they are on Talk talk, and I have a mobile contract with them for £5 a month, about free 100 mins, 200 messages.

Horses for courses I guess.

Been with talk talk for years and no problem. Use netflix daily, often three or four people connected at once too.
Free calls all day anyday, their cheap up from line rental deal is a bonus.

Never had to use customer service mind, so can't comment on that.

But personally, I'd recommend them too!

Hmm the Talk Talk opinion is coming back, no virgin cables unfortunately, already tried frown

Does seem to be a decision between genital warts or herpies though!

Had talk talk for 19 months and had noting but utter nightmares. Even ditching them was hard.

Had full sky package with broad band or last 3 years and have never had a single issue.
