I do like the phone, very fast with no lag and the sound quality is excellent when listening with the phone's built-in speaker. Haven't really tested the camera or video as I hardly use those functions. Can't say much about gaming on it as that's not my thing either.

The charging speed is amazing, fully charged in an hour and fifteen minutes! Mostly I use it for calls, texting and internet which is why the screen is the most important function to me with a fast processor to deliver the goods.

If you can get the Oppo 7 rather than 7a, I think you'll like it. The only pitfall is the lack of shops for support. It's a bit like Giff-Gaff, all on-line.
The OH has a F7 to replace her trusty HTC D_HD. It really is like a mini tablet that does texts and voice (on GG too). I didn't expect it, but the speed difference is noticeable between that and our NX7 tablet (although unlike a previous single core ploddy tablet more instant vs fast).

I will get round to using an energy meter whilst the F7 is charging sometime to see the exact rate, as it gets to 80 or 90% very quickly, then seems to finish off the last few percentage at a more normal charging speed. Compared to the HTC that seemed to spend half its life being charged I think just this was enough to make her happy hehe

Not sure what I'd get myself (being a Yorkshireman I'll probably keep my S2 until it stops working), it requires trousers with reasonably deep pockets to avoid being noticably annoyingly big.

The Nexus 5 has quite a slim profile.

Thanks and interesting smile.

With the F7 it is a combination of the length and the squarer than average corners that in one pair of jeans made its dimensions more noticable. However a few days later I noticed that a different pair of jeans had longer pockets so borrowed the F7 and it was fine.

If I were shopping it would probably be a 5.0 FHD phone. Good timing on when the F7 appeared as I was going to recommend her a N1 ! (given her phone never goes into trouser pockets, size wouldn't have been an issue)

Isn't the only difference the screen? Like I stated above, I've seen the G3 screen and the set backs (battery, brightness,...) don't outweigh the gain (ppi) for me. Sorry to say this, but as tested the Find 7 screen is worse than the 7a in any way 'cept for resolution (still a great screen). For me at least, 1080p is plenty. Not to mention the higher price for the 7a.

I don't mind the "lack of shops", support is great as I've found out with my Find 5, and from what I've heard it's gotten even better still (there's a support center in the UK now iirc).
With the Oppo F7 screen, all the tests seem to keep the factory installed screen protector on. It's like looking through sunglasses! Take it off and the results are much better. Nice of them to add one though!

I've had a lot of phones and went bigger everytime, 3.5", 4.3", 5",... The F5 was the biggest phone I had so far, but it was fine in my pockets. The F7 might just be a bridge too far, in which case the wife will be more than happy to receive it (otherwise she gets the N5 to replace her S2 wink).
The N1 looked great for a small tablet! I think my wife has a purse that won't even fit that thing biggrin.

I think they invented the word "ginormophone" for that smile.

Had a go on the G3 in Carphone Warehouse today. Screen looked good, but jerky as hell!

It also got hot very quickly

It's a known issue, one of the reasons it struggles with benchmarking due to overheating.

A 2" VGA display for me before the S2 ! (I have a friend with a Panasonic phone from when such things were made in the UK ! yikes Seems more advanced than it looks, well it can send text messages hehe !)

The OH would have been fine with a N1, but 'specificiation obsession' made me wonder about relative performance differences to newer models. The F7 is pushing size imho in terms of having to select suitable clothing for it.

If the other gadgets in the household didn't exist, I probably would go that far. The jeans that the F7 was a bit big for were ordinary items, but some Japanese style demin had noticably bigger pockets. Wonder if that is more than co-incidence.

The F7 was all strategic as I encounter a new toy to play with without spending any of my ££. hehe
Plus having something decent for the OH means if we travel, the NX7 is mine.

One possible caveat with both the Z2 and G3. Overheating cameras. Chap I know had both of them totally fail on friday due to the cameras overheating. Okay, it was rather warm here in the south, but probably no more so than various places in spain, california, florida .... slightly embarrassing. At least with the Z2 you can drop it in water to cool down smile

The spec sheet here says the G3 at 3mobile is running Snapdragon:

Is it a different version of snapdragon or 'the' one?
That's the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Not Android 4.4.4.

For all you guys complaining about Battery Life

Try going into Developer Options and changing the runtime from Dalvik to ART!

Made a massive difference to mine!!!

Odd, not found either at all. Had mine about three weeks and it does slowly adapt itself to your usage patterns, rather good! All in all, I'm very pleased with it, and I generally hate my phone!

Just doing the OTA OS upgrade now so we shall see in a few mins if that changes much.

My daughter was playing with the AR app on my Z2 and it shut down after a couple of minutes as a protective measure.

TBH its plugged in and on all day long- its also been played with how many times in the last 30mins before you got hold of it? Most of them run scrolling screen e.g's too,
Perhaps you're right, though my HTC One M7 is plugged in all day and gets a lot use and doesnt get hot.

Fancy a g3 to replace my 3 year old galaxy nexus.

Does anyone know if sky go works? It's the worst app in the world but critical to making my 2hr train commute bearable so a deal breaker for me.
