I only ask because I found trying to create a program for an android phone a complete ball-ache, whereas I've been recently testing out win10 VS2015 RC and a few IOT devices and found them to be a breeze.

If a 1+1 would support a 10 environment for messing about with I'd throw my android phone in the bin yesterday

Thanks Tonsko - I really need some help. Do i uninstall Google Muci player and install poweramp?

I am new to all this, so need ladybird instructions!!

I am of the age where Symbian S60 was complex!
You don't have to, just leave it on the screen behind the 'apps' button, and put power amp on your home screen. Consider using Nova launcher as well, it allows you to put more icons on the screen should you wish.

Google Play (music) is annoying as once opened, the headphone icon stays in the top left of the screen and on the lock screen until you re-boot the phone. This means that my phone will occasionally start playing music in my pocket during meetings.....
Just swipe the notification to the left or right to get rid of it.

Back lights on the three buttons at the bottom of the phone are comedy - candles give out more light.
Backlight buttons: Yes they are useless. I've switched it to on-screen buttons in the Buttons settings.
Why would you want bright backlit buttons? You already know what they do, as long as you can see where they are, what's the problem? It's hardly a major annoyance.

The 1+1 is an Android phone. Maybe buy a (cheaper) Lumia 640 or 640XL if you want a decent Windows phone.

Quite a turn up tonight.

I ordered and paid for my OPO a week before the price drop. I was mildly annoyed, but not devastated as it was still a good phone for the price.

Imagine my surprise when I went to pay for something on paypal tonight and they'd refunded me the £50 price difference. What a result.

The invite reservation for the OnePlus Two has opened - https://oneplus.net/uk/invites

I've never bought the OnePlus One but have been looking for a phone to replace my iPhone 5 for a couple of years now. Could the new OnePlus be worth getting?

I read a preliminary thing on the OnePlus 2 a few months back - and it seems the battery life is pretty poor. The 1s battery was one of it's standout features. This may have changed a bit - read around it a bit I guess.

I'm apparently about 6,500 in the queue for the invite. Will watch the launch at 3 in the morning as I'm on a night shift anyway and see if it's worth the upgrade from my One.

Has anyone applied the Oxygen OS to their Oneplus One yet? How does it run?

I've been well and truly soured by the OPO customer service experience. I'd heard bad things about it, and of manufacturing defects others had experienced (yellow tint, etc) and was probably a little smug internally that mine had been fine...

Well, mine developed a halo like ring around the edge of the screen. It is prominent and shows up all the time (except in screenshots), including in recovery mode. It is patently a hardware fault that has developed with the LCD. A basic Google search has highlighted others have seen similar effects on iPhones etc when they've had the screen replaced. Mine hasn't had the screen replaced, but I can only assume something has come loose, worn out, or whatever.

Unfortunately OPO support have been worse than useless. First of all they wanted me to do a hard reset of the phone, which I did even though I knew it was pointless, now they want to do a "remote session" into it. Quite how they expect to see a physical defect remotely I have no idea. I suspect they'd want to do this even if the screen was smashed. They have taken inordinate amounts of time to respond to my ticket, leaving me having to post on the forum to try and get it chased up.

So - believe the hype, OPO support really is atrocious. If you get a DOA phone you at least have the recourse of a PayPal chargeback (which the forums suggest people have had to resort to after getting nowhere with support), but after that consider the cost written off.

I'd not say no to an invite if any do become available. My Opo is still ticking along nicely, but for shiny reasons... a Opt (1+2?) could be on the cards, especially if - as has been suggested, it is smaller than the opo.

It thought the general consensus was for a 5.8" screen? That said, they might be able to make the phone a little shorter if they make it wider and shrink the casing around the screen more than they did.

I'm not surprised they're keeping the size of the screen large, phablets are where it's at these days it seems especially in Asia. We'll find out in a couple of hours!

I must have been really lucky - I knocked my OHs out of her hand and smashed the screen. Contacted OP, got quote, paid and less than a week later she had a new phone.

Although when I say 'lucky' she did make my life hell for that week...

I too have been annoyed by them this week, for much the same reasons.

Phone keeps getting stuck on the lock screen. It's alive, and will respond to power, volume etc. But no touch screen response at all.

I contacted support, they insisted I get a video. Okay, FFS. I ask is that because you need proof or is it because you can't understand my description?! No answer. Then they repeatedly tried to close the ticket every few days before I was able to reproduce the issue (it's intermittent and I don't always another phone with me to record it happening!).

After I finally got a vid a month later, I sent it in, their response: install oxygen. WTF?!?!? Is it a known issue? No answer. Is it a hardware fault? No answer.
Nope, their answer is to cause massive inconvenience by wiping the phone and installing a completely different OS which may or may not fix the issue. Toss pots.

Methinks I'll be getting a OP Two the second I manage to get my hands on an invite. I really like the look of the wooden back covers and even if I don't like it overall, they'll be selling for above the RRP on eBay I imagine like the OPO was.

Yup, I've given up trying to get mine fixed. It's in daily use and I don't have a replacement (that's my fault I guess) but I don't have the time or energy to keep doing pointless things like hardware resets and installing a different OS (the problem exists in Recovery mode!), etc. The remote session suggestion was the final straw, they don't seem to be able to grasp that the problem would not show up to anyone remotely, nor does it show up in any image or video the phone produces.

I too was asked to provide a video of it, and then asked to provide another "from different angles" even though it was obvious from the one I sent what the problem was. If you're curious - here it is.

Then they asked me to install a "ghost touch fix". The phone doesn't have a ghost touch problem, and the "ghost touch fix" actually installs OxygenOS instead of Cyanogen which I'm quite happy with. Again, the fault is not software related as it is evident in Recovery mode and before the phone has even booted.

Everyone has to go through this God awful flowchart that they have for support, regardless of their problem. I don't doubt that they ask people with phones that don't switch on at all to provide videos or suggest installing OxygenOS.

Sadly this is where you get what you pay for. Fantastic phone, but it's a write off if anything goes wrong. Dealing with their support is literally reenacting the parrot sketch from Monty Python.
