Internet hosting

Been with Reg1 for a few years now, but finding them less responsive than they used to be.

Who is the PH hosting company of choice these days? Specifically I need cron jobs and reasonable bandwidth.

I just set a wordpress site up with siteground.com . It was a totally painless service, even if the install of wordpress failed... by the time I went to log a call, the site was fixed and an email to say it was ready. They even bothered to ring me in NZ to see if there was any help I needed, all for 30 quid a year....for what I want anyhoo They were recommended to me by a colleague.

From the quick look at cpanel, you can schedule cron jobs

I've just migrated away from register 1 to a combination of digital ocean (for a linux vm) and tso host (for domain, email forwarding and dns).

Pretty impressed at how cheap it is overall, and both seemed really easy to use and get setup. Obviously very flexible given you can do whatever you like with the server - I just installed nginx and serving a small site, but might do something better later.

I've started using Site5, US based company but with servers in London and various other locations around the world. Support is good and it comes with a ton of features as standard.

I use Sheffield based xilo and found them excellent for customer service at very reasonable pricing.

Netcraft rate them No 7 in world for uptime.
