Can't you get one where you don't have to pay every month? I have an Orange sim that has had £10 on it since about 2002. biggrin
Are you sure that £10 is still there? Do you not have to use the phone at least once in three months or summat?

I keep an old phone in the car with an Orange PAYG SIM for emergencies but do use it every couple of months or so in case I otherwise lose the credit and number.

Sorry, if my spelling offended you, I'm dyslexic, spell checker helps with spelling, but can't help me in this situation, when several similar words will fit.

Sorry I forgot, this is PH Speeling(intentional) matters.
Keep the phone and stick a dictionary app on it.

My contract is up in a few months, and I'll not renew it. I hardly use it as a phone...mainly as a iPod and a bike computer.

Blimey, this thread is for people that wonder why there is a space program.

OT, but in that case, do you struggle to figure out what version of a word to use?

I can normally manage to, two, and too, but have problems with anything else, and spell checker is no help.
The meaning of the word is usually a clue

There - referring to a place, whether concrete ("over there by the building") or more abstract ("it must be difficult to live there").

Their - possesive, who it belongs to

A phone like a nokia 520 however might be a better shout if you need this stuff.
Guess what phone I have.

I downgraded from an Iphone 4s to the Nokia.
Well then you have a free excellent satnav and maps already that works without mobile data. Can't help with the camera though.

The more I think about it, I need a phone.

Not for phone calls, but as a satnav, backup for my walking maps, and a camera.

Time to do as suggested, find a provider who doesn't write off your credit after just 1 month.

At least then, I can make a call in an emergency, I don't think I will be giving my number to anyone, It's nice not getting texts every 5 minutes.

GiffGaff.

My missus put a £10 PAYG top-up on hers in Nov 2012 and still has £3.79 credit left!

The few times I forgot to take out my phone I have found it quite liberating. Initially there is the concern that I'm missing some important call, but that passes then a sense of freedom comes over...ridiculous really.

Cancelled my Orange contract 3 days ago, can't have made more than a couple of dozen calls on it in 5 years. SWMBO has a very old non-smart Nokia with a GiffGaff sim that she now uses here in France as the roaming charges have reduced, we make so few calls that it makes no difference really.

rofl

The go-to excuse for people who can't be bothered to learn proper spelling.
Anyway, a dyslectic might have typed "thier" or "teihr". Using "there" is just wrong because you didn't know any better or had a small slip of your common sense.

It annoys me about as much as every other kid that can't keep up in school is somehow AHDD or dislectyc these days.
