after a year my batter holds chage for about half a day on moderate use. I've watched a youtube vid and they seem relatively easy to replace and there's loads of 'genune' batteries on ebay + tools for under £10. Any one tried it/had expereince with the non standard high capacity ones?

Have you tried all the usual tricks to eliminate battery drain? Cold booted it etc?

Is it not covered under the European 24 month warranty?

bit of a newbie when it comes to iphones, I take it cold booted means back up via itunes then hard re boot? Apple says 1 year warranty on Iphones and nothing on batteries. It's over a year old anyway.

A cold boot is when you press the home and power button for a few seconds till it prompts you to switch it off.

Apple are lying to you, under EU law they have to offer a 24 month warranty (https://www.apple.com/uk/legal/statutory-warranty/) not sure about batteries but I'd of thought they would be covered too.

I'd be trying the SOGA not fit for purpose line if my battery was like yours but I'm a moany b***ard biggrin

This, had to do this with my iphones more than once. Takes up some time and you really have to push them, but in the end they are legally obliged.

With batteries however...

For me it would be this part of the SOGA:

14 Implied terms about quality or fitness.

(2A)For the purposes of this Act, goods are of satisfactory quality if they meet the standard that a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory, taking account of any description of the goods, the price (if relevant) and all the other relevant circumstances.

I consider an iPhone to be a premium product and the price reflects this, I do not consider that battery performance satisfactory after a year.

so it seems that if it's defective they have to replace it? I've done a factory reset will see how it goes over the next few days. Thanks all.
