This phone is annoying me. It is the one phone stopping me pulling the trigger on getting a Sony Z2. From what I hear the Z3 isnt going to be any better than the Z3 in the real world.

Is it just the novelty though of having a phone that not many other people will have???
hehe
To be fair, it does add to the experience.
But, you can't go wrong with either!
And here in lies the issue. The Z2 would suit me on a contract, but costs more over the 2 years, and as you can now pick them up sim free for £420, it makes getting one on contract a bit silly. The Find 7a (not point for me getting the 7) is even cheaper, rarer, but when I come to replace it, people may turn their nose up at it come selling time as its not a Samsung etc. Still, the notification light might make up for that biggrin

Hmm, you're definitely right about selling it on. Though, when looking at the competition they are sometimes about 50% more expensive, which makes up for the lack in resale value. Especially if you keep it for 3 or 4 years.

I rarely keep phones for more than 2 years, like cars I get bored of them!

How about their new R5. At 4.85mm the thinnest smartphone in the world and it's got a 64 bit octa-core cpu too

No, I rather not have my phone bent smile. How do they get all of that in there though! Backside looks a bit too much like the iP5 design.

God knows, those Chinese. You'd almost think they had spies checking out how Apple do it in their factory and copying them. Cant think how they could do that after all the factories are miles apart in China wink And I really don't get the must be thinner thing either.

I have no need for the R5 at all, it wouldn't benefit me in anyway.... i still want it though.

On a side note, the Oppo 7a has been great. Amazing phone.
I thought the "quickcharger" would be something stupid, but it works a charm. Can't believe it's much good for the battery though, but I've got two batteries anyway biggrin (comes in very handy when away for a couple of days).

It also came with a screenprotector pre-applied. And applied in a way you nearly couldn't tell it was there! I was never a fan of screenprotectors, the screens are scratch resistant enough ime. Still, if it's applied like this one it doesn't really matter tbh.

Other than that, ColorOS is OK, I'd still rather have stock. The size is great in most cases. The N5 feels so easy on the hand now and the iP4 feels like a postage stamp.
Pro N5:
  • Stock android
  • Very slim and light in the hand
  • Wireless charging
Pro 7a:
  • SD card (64GB in it now!) for media
  • Much louder speakers
  • Better battery life, quickcharge, replaceable battery,
  • Superior camera
  • Big screen
Anyway, so far so good! Looks like a great device and I expect it to receive Android 5.0. Oppo hasn't been the fastest in updates (nor the slowest), but they do come.

Running a 32 bit OS..... It looks very nice but I would wait until it cones with 64 bit Lolipop.

Have you managed to upgrade to 4.4 and colour OS 2? My find 7 is working well with the new upgrade.

Yes, it's not that it's bad, I just prefer stock Android. Also, the calendar app is doing my head in and is near impossible to get rid of.

Only a 2000mAh battery, can't see the battery life being very good...
