So,
I've had my Oppo Find 5 for little over a year, and my experience has been mixed but mainly good.
First of all, Oppo have done an amazing job in support when I needed it. My first device overheated frequently, it was replaced immediately without any problems. The second one, an amazing phone but, half a year ago, I dropped it. Oppo replaced it FOC!!
Now, however, the replacement phone seems to be faulty, charging extremely slow and losing charge.
I send them a message, saying I would be interested in their new phones (7a) for an upgrade fee.
Oppo just sent me this message:
Now, the 7a and 7 are very similar. The 7a has 'only' a 1080p display. The 7 has QHD.
Now, I have an iphone myself and the 1080p display of the F5 easily tops that... and then some. So I'm quite sure the 7a's display is more than sufficient.
On top of that, the QHD displays always come at a price in brightness, battery life, performance,...
Anyway, short list pro 7a:

In this situation, we have made up a special offer for you and we would like to propose you to upgrade your device to one of the latest models by paying a small price difference.
This means that we are giving you the chance to trade-in your defective device and upgrade to the following models:
- OPPO Find 7a** [http://europe.oppostyle.com/16-find-7a] paying only **€99 EUR** ;
- OPPO Find 7** [http://europe.oppostyle.com/14-find-7] paying only **€199 EUR** .
Needless to say I'm over the moon with this. Bought a phone for about €400 about 18 months ago, now get a NEW top of the line device for €100...This means that we are giving you the chance to trade-in your defective device and upgrade to the following models:

Anyway, short list pro 7a:
- Better performance (less pixels to control)
- Better battery life
- Better brightness
- €100 Cheaper
- It's the "top end"
- QHD
Just to add, the price difference can also be in the following things:

The Find 7 has 32GB build in, 7a only 16GB. Both take MicroSD (got a 64GB laying around here so not too bothered). The 7 also has 3GB RAM, 7a "only" 2GB.

Thought I would reply in the relevant thread rather than the oneplusone thread.
The smart case is useful as you can tap and see the time through it though it turns the screen on when opened but doesn't seem to turn it off when closed (think this is an issue with coloros as it was detected when I tried out the oneplusone cyanogen mod rom).
I have a samsung galaxy 4 as a work phone and the build quality of the oppo is much better.

I 'have' to order the 7a or the 7 ( thread), what are your findings on the use? Do you have the smartcover?
I haven't had a hands on with the 7 but from back to back reviews it seems that the screen colours and vibrancy is better on the 7a. I haven't had any issues with only having 2gb of ram (my previous phone had 1gb). The battery life is decent lasting the day including 4g tethering at work and being constantly connected to my sony SW2. Being able to charge from 0% to 75% is very useful if your in a rush. (oppo are bringing out a dedicated portable charger for the find that will charge it quickly as well). The smart case is useful as you can tap and see the time through it though it turns the screen on when opened but doesn't seem to turn it off when closed (think this is an issue with coloros as it was detected when I tried out the oneplusone cyanogen mod rom).

I cant be the only one thinking this, but as you are generally the first one to criticise iPhone fanboyism I thought it was a peach. You are over the moon, that a company who seem to produce faulty goods, (i.e 2 separate phones not able to even last 8 months is pretty terrible) allowing you to pay them more money for more of their goods of unknown quality?

1st phone was overheating, replaced without issue, 2nd phone lasted over a year 'till I dropped it and the screen cracked, the replacement for that seems to have a problem charging. You are over the moon, that a company who seem to produce faulty goods, (i.e 2 separate phones not able to even last 8 months is pretty terrible) allowing you to pay them more money for more of their goods of unknown quality?
I am aware that of the 3 phones they've sent to me, 2 have been defective. On the flip side, I have a 4S, which was coincidentally the THIRD phone apple gave me before they got it right. Every time they also denied the faults as much as possible, having a pain to having them resolved (ie getting the phone back "repaired" and st). Oppo never denied any responsibility for any fault and never was there an argument as to who was at fault. And when I was at fault, even then I didn't have to beg for a solution, they just gave me a new one.
The 4S is cracked as well, though apple didn't want to give me a 5S for €100 . They'd repair the 4S for €200. And then I'm still stuck with a laggy old device.
So yes, I'm over the moon. In my experience, the Oppo support makes the Apple support look like a lemonade stand, while their devices are one the same level of "reliability".
The thing is that Oppo aspires to be a better company.
Apple just "know" they are.

I love how you've needed to poll the internet to choose between two phones for you, one of which you've already decided on.
What do you do when you need to make an everso slightly important decision?
I went shopping at the weekend and bought a new all in one PC purely by reading the spec and deciding if it met my needs. Not a single voting box was needed.

I wanted to see if I overlooked something between the two phones, as indeed, it seemed quite clear cut for the 7a for me.
Shows the importance of good support. Primarily I care about down time, so if problems are fixed quickly then I'm not unduly bothered that I had a problem in the first place. The product may be a bit wonky, but if that's mitigated with fast support then it doesn't really matter. Case in point was an X10 GPS watch I bought a few years back. It was a bit bleeding edge for its manufacturers and they never managed to make its housing sufficiently robust, but they never denied the problem, were happy to either send out spares or arrange for the watch to go back to Norway for repair, and were exceedingly quick and efficient. It's extremely reasuring to know that problems will be dealt with painlessly.

Agreed on this, with my iPhone and Galaxy, it always was resolved in the end but had to get my phone in for a couple of weeks.
With oppo they gave me the option of buying a new one while they investigated, which they reimbursed if they received my defective device.
Anyway, the main thing is that with them I've got the feeling you're actually talking to someone who could do something for you, instead of someone that sounds like they're working for an insurance company that wants to put all the blame on you.
Anyway, the find 5 was a great phone and it's hard to believe it was released almost two years ago, still has a very recent version of android and everything. They also do their best to support all the 3rd party launchers with drivers and the like.
I wanted a bit bigger phone so the 7(a) seems like a good bet according to all the reviews. Getting it for €100 is great, especially as they now do a temp promotion of adding a free bt headphones worth €50, which makes it completely ridiculous.

This phone is annoying me. It is the one phone stopping me pulling the trigger on getting a Sony Z2. From what I hear the Z3 isnt going to be any better than the Z3 in the real world.
Is it just the novelty though of having a phone that not many other people will have???

To be fair, it does add to the experience.
But, you can't go wrong with either!
