Think Windows 7's dual monitor support could be described as rudimentary at best smile

Does anyone have any suggestions of tools they use to improve the situation? Task bar, snapping, etc.

(I know 8.1 is a bunch better but I'm waiting to see what next month brings with regards to Win9. Don't want to wipe the machine for 8.1 and than again for 9 smile)

Thanks everyone smile

I use DisplayFusion for managing my screens. It's the only program of its kind I've ever used so I'm unsure how it compares to toher but it does everything I need.

9 is a long way off yet.

Depending on what you're using the machine for, nVidia NVS and Quadro boards ship with nView?

I use Zbar to extend my taskbar to the 2nd monitor.

And it's free!

Not sure what is rudimentary about it.

Right click on the taskbar for tiling options (or snapping, as xbox-gen would have it)

Win key + arrows (+ shift) allows you to tile the windows:

I like that! Any idea how to get similar behaviour from FilmOn player? It appears to have a minimum window size, and I couldn't find any config file that would allow it to be resized to less than this (although default.css looks a likely candidate).

Whilst vey nice, and something I use a lot, it's naff all to do with dual monitor support. In fact it highlights a weakness of Win7 dual monitor. You can't 'snap' to an edge that is logically adjacent to a second monitor.

I have used both Display Fusion and UltraMon. Of the 2, Display Fusion is far superior and is developed at a sensible pace; Ultramon's development is glacial. These are both paid for. I've never previously heard of Zbar but will look into it.
