I hVe ios8 and see no feature that tells me app battery usage.
I seem to remember from the keynote a feature of ios8 was a function that showed which apps were using power. Like in mavericks.

I closed all my apps and restarted my phone.

Only had messages, mail, safari and a frequently accessed game open. Down to 96% in 4 hours.

Previously my phone was showing usage of 7 hours and standby of 10. I think there is an app that was draining my battery. Just need to find out which one.

6pm of normal usage and battery down to only 76%

9 hours standby, 2.5 hours usage.

It seems that an app was running in the background. Which one though...?

Primary suspect would be anything that tries to remember your location or keep track logs etc - these usually keep GPS running in the background and often don't get paused after ten minutes like other background apps do

Also anything that does lots of secret downloading especially over 3G

11pm over here and the battery is down to 30%. This is after a day if moderate use. Some YouTube streaming, phone calls, text messaging, gaming and surfing.

Pretty respectable I think.

It seems that an app has been draining the battery. I'm going to keep closing stuff down and see how it goes. But a successful experiment nonetheless

Just for reference really, from 100% charge at bedtime to 10am or so, with no calls but about 15 mins of various wifi web browsing and an hour of podcast playing, mine dropped to 84%.

My 5S battery is knackered. Unfortunately I dropped the phone and the glass is damaged near the camera.

Any idea what Apple would be like on a warranty replacement with physical damage?

Hi all

I got my daughter a 5S off eBay just over a week ago as a replacement for her 4. The phone works fine, but the battery life is terrible! I've just replaced the battery but it's still bad, she says it's down to 40% by 11am without really doing anything on it.
Is there a reason that the 5S loses power so quickly? Can anything be done about it or do you just have to suffer it?

Thanks.

Go into system preferences and see which apps are draining the battery.

If you're in a low signal area then this will drain the battery as the phone hints for signal
