The family sharing thing is a bit annoying.
Obviously I and my girlfriend have separate apple ID's which we use to make purchases with apps etc, when setting up family sharing it says all app purchases will now be taken from her account. I'd rather we both were able to buy them separately still but be able to share them

Just browsing through the app store while downloading a couple of updates for some apps and it totally froze, only way out was to hold down both buttons frown

What's this iCloud Drive all about? Is it a 'Box' type thing but Apple's version. I see you only get 5gb for free!

both iPad and 4s updated.
Initially tried to do it over Wifi at home, was going to take 5 and 9 hours respectively.
Decided to connect to the pc and do it via iTunes.
All done in less than an hour per device.
Seems to make the 4s run a little better.
Only issue I have found is the Siri / Shazam integration does not appear to work.

Always do major updates via computer with a backup first. Ran around 10pm last night and did both mine and the other halfs 5S. Expecting a few issues whilst the developer apps catch up.

Was hoping there would be a built in Swype keyboard....

^^^^^^

This - my first reaction, too.

Otherwise: I've just discovered that Safari no longer seems to play ball with drop down boxes (signing into bank and investments provider...). Anyone else noticed this?

Suitably impressed with what just happened...

Phone is on charge upstairs and I'm on my iPad in the home office.

I hear the phone start ringing and get the mirror image on iPad. Slide to answer and I'm talking to someone on their landline with ipad acting like a large loud speaker. iPad goes louder than iphone too so really quite handy.

Took about 3 hours to update my 4S.

Keyboard now takes up way too much screen space and the overall feel is more like the Symbian Belle keyboard on my old Nokia 808 - only 3 suggestions on screen due to the size limitations.

Otherwise it barely feels any different to iOS7; it should have been numbered iOS 7.5.

Settings/General/keyboards solves the size issue. Just turn off predictive. Auto correct works just fine so seems a bit pointless to me.

You can also go into your contacts and make a call through your phone from your iPad. I'm quite taken with that feature.

Can't find anywhere a keypad to dial a number that's not in my contacts though...

I thought one of the features of IOS8 was the ability to have all of your photos in the cloud and not on your phone for example - you could then view from the cloud using up far less space on the handset?

I use the cloud and have 200gb storage (just had that increased by Apple and my yearly fee reduced) but I can't find that option anywhere....

So far, on my 5, i've had issues with Facebook (aside from it being full of idiots) and the keyboard.

Both hang, the latter usually sorts itself out (the predictive text looks to be the cause), the former will crash and sometimes brick the phone for a minute.

Great. The two most basic functions now too complicated to run on my iPhone.

Predictive is bizarre; it only suggests up to three words. No option for scrolling through a list (as you can on Symbian, WP and Android).

It is a useless "feature", so I will be switching it off.

One nice thing - the lock screen preview of my emails finally displays them with the smaller text as defined in settings. Previously it always presented email in larger fonts.

My phone updated last night within 30 minutes (I normally get 50mb through my phone on a speedtest though)on my home wifi

I love the Swiftkey keyboard, it actually works and I've found myself 'testing' how fast I can write out a message...which is scarily fast and this is the first time I've used it!

Also, being able to make the font size smaller is much better, I can fit more on the screen, which I like.

I've set up my credit/debit cards through Safari and I've used them already for a purchase from Amazon and I'm impressed with that. Another good feature is in Safari you can view all your usernames/passwords for the sites you visit (that have been stored)

Im wary of that since adding my debit card to my Google account and a man from Indonesia using it to buy an iPad in New York (luckily they smelt a rat and informed me)

Oo, I like that smile So you can browse the web on your iPad, and when you find a shop or person you want to phone, click 'call' on the iPad and it makes the call from your iPhone? Up till now I've had to use Safari iCloud to do that - nifty.
