I bought a latest generation Nano purely for music in my car to save having to faff about with my phone each time (older car so very short cable at the back of the glove box that plays only, no charging). Bought one, charged it up, loaded the music and plugged it in. Within 60 mins the device was out of battery; charged it again and had the same issue.

Went back to Apple who kindly replaced the device without question; go back home and charge it etc, plug it in and again, within 60 mins of driving the device is flat. Tried using the nano "normally" i.e. listening to it in the house opposed to playing it through my car stereo only and the device only managed about 90 mins before going flat. Back to apple again, explained and for the second time they swapped the device for a new one. And now the same thing is happening again.

Am I being thick? 60 mins surely can't be the average battery life; I had an older style nano which held charge fine (sadly no longer working). I'm wondering if my car is somehow sapping the power but when my phone is plugged in it doesn't lose charge any faster then normal. Any ideas? Or have I had three duff devices on the trott?

Did a quick Google and discovered this thread. Seems a similar issue?

You should be able to get an adapter so it will charge.

I got one for my 2009 Audi and it charges a new ish nano.

I'll try and find an eBay link...

Mine is very similar to that. Works a treat.

Unless of course your cable is just a 3.5mm headphone/aux jack.

Which I've just realised is probably the case!

No it's a proper apple connector (old style connector with an adaptor fitted for the lightening connector). Will take a look on eBay for that charger; African Internet is letting me down at the moment (loves PH, hates everything else!)

Is the brightness of the screen turned down and also set to go off after say 15 seconds? There is also a battery save on my Nano menu so is that turned on? This could be why it is draining so fast.

Yea after the first failure I went in and made sure everything that could be switched off was off/disabled, so that all it did was play the music.
