Right it's being super retarded now,
All I'm trying to do is post a link. So I've opened the other page copy but when I paste it in here it's something I cied yesterday.
But wait it gets better open another page and paste in the address bar and what I copied appears.
Took 30 seconds to load this page and then still wasn't laded properly.
This mini is fked.

I haven't upgraded any of my iDevices to iOS8, but is it like the upgrade from 5 to 6?
When I upgraded from 5 to 6 it was a case of
I do remember that I tried to restore a backup from the previous IOS version and it had backed that much up that IOS6 went back to looking exactly like IOS5.
One thing I do know now is that EVERY SINGLE major OS update the ONLY way to be 100% certain it will work properly is to put the phone into recovery mode, restore it with the new OS and then set it up as a new phone, add your contacts back in, put the apps back on it, etc, etc (all via iTunes). A right PITA but it has so far guaranteed any new OS works properly. Of course the fact Apple let slower hardware struggle with a new OS can't be fixed by anything apart from just never upgrading.
Every time I've restored a 4.x.x backup to a 5.x.x phone, or 5.x.x backup to a 6.x.x phone there have been loads of problems, poor wifi, knackered bluetooth, apps crashing left right and centre, inability to install apps, etc.
Apple must backup some system state info when they do a backup and if restored to a different OS, they restore the system state when they should just ignore it.
When I upgraded from 5 to 6 it was a case of
- Backup everything, just to be safe
- Download the update (over the wifi update straight to the phone)
- Let the phone extract and install the update
- After the update all user data and apps were still there
- After the update it restored everything from an iCloud backup
