The guy has got a point though.

With your particular requirements it would definitely have been prudent to ask questions about design and aesthetic changes before upgrading. Unless there was a specific app or feature you required arguably there isn't much point upgrading at all - especially given newer OS upgrades are likely to run slower on older hardware as a matter of course.

iOS 8 works - according to most peoples definitions of the word. If you've got an iOS (6) that fits like a glove for you, I honestly don't know why you'd choose to blindly upgrade and risk ruining it all.
Ipoint 1 - ios 8 has many problems that need fixing - bugs and oerformance.

Point 2 its cack for people with poor vision. Fact

Point 3 shouldnt have upgraded

Point 4 last time with appple

SwiftKey. It's free. Black keyboard with white characters.
And flaky on iOS 8 I'm finding. like keyboard completely missing at times in Safari. it also doesn't recognise keyboard shortcuts from settings which is a pain.
This. Also, in the lock screen I'm getting a different language keyboard with no option to flick to English to type my password. Fortunately I've been able to TouchID so far...

Edit...

Ok, just looked into it and apparently third party keyboards do not work in lock screen. Have re-enabled the Apple English one too for now. Still got the issue with no keyboard during some apps. I'm hoping an update will fix that soon!

Point 1: The only issues I've seen are with 3rd party apps who haven't compiled with the correct SDK and tested them. This is on an iphone 4.

Point 2: They've now got a phone thats much bigger and personally I find its easier to see and use (I have a iphone 4 and a 6). I'll otherwise defer to your knowledge about smaller screens, colours and visiion impairement.

Point 3: If things are that important to you then the lesson you should take in life is wait and do some homework

Point 4: If you think you'll get better service from anyone else, good luck to you. I tried Android once, persisted for a year, had no end of issues with software upgrades had contacts duplicated, and so on.

The thing that gets me with all this stuff is people jump on forums complaining about things without spending a little time working out what is going on. ITS BROKE they shout... DONT UPGRADE.... and then an hour later in small letters many concede is was operator error. For instance "My phone doesn't work in the car anymore... oh, I paired it again and its ok now...".

Check the forums on the net.
It does not work correctly on ioad 2
So it's widely known and obvious that it doesn't work.... why did you install it?
Works fine on the kids' iPad 2.

I will try and go back to previous ios.

But i was on ios 6 before so not sure if i would be going back to ios 6 or 7? Or maybe not possible.

Isafari and other briwsers are the wirst oarts of ios 8.

Other internet access is ok.
But 20 to 30 seconds to load a oage is a bit much.
Must be fixable by apple surely.
The only option (without jailbreaking) is to go back to iOS 7.12. There is apparently a short window of time during which this is possible, as once Apple stop signing the firmware you're stuck with iOS 8. The site where I got instructions and the software download links is is one:

I've mentioned twice now about closing down all apps and restarting the iPad. Have you done this?

The only time I have the problems your encountering is when I've got tons of apps open and haven't restarted the iPad in a month or 2.

As to the buggy software your saying people are encountering I would disagree. I've been using the beta version of ios8 for 2-3 months with only 1 issue and that was whatsapp crashing whenever a word had ff or fi in. That got resolved by the app creator. Otherwise I'd say its one of the most stable updates they've released in a very long time.

Surely the OP's point was that IOS 6 worked for him. So you assume any improved IOS wouldn't screw up something as basic as his visibility options and he might get a better OS on top of what he had already. As it happens, it looks like those basic staples have been removed.

Perfectly legitimate to write a thread about that and doesn't deserve the abuse he's had from some quarters. One thing you can ALWAYS bet on when someone criticises Apple, they'll be roundly abused by Apple fanboys for daring to speak out. That you do it to someone with a fairly major disability shames you, frankly.

Well couldn't download it. Anyone know if I was to wipe all date, and restart, go through the set up, would it automatically install 8.0 or not, guess it would.

This pad is so slow since the upgrade today, bloody Apple.

Sorry, their instructions aren't very clear. You download the file on your mac or PC, saving it somewhere known on your hard drive. Then open iTunes and plug in your iPad. When you click restore holding down the shift key (for PC) it then lets you select the file for the restore. Note that you can't use a ios8 backup to get all your data back after reverting to iOS 7.12, so hopefully you have a recent back up (I didn't mad).

OK, so after downloading to a PC, connect the iPad to it, and you mention "Click restore holding the shift key" assume this is on the PC?

You mention a back up, all I have on the iPad is some photoes, and my address book, will I loose them. Bloody Apple.

Curious if anyone else has this issue.I've four Iphone docks-a Roberts,Denon,Roth and a Sony. All are fitted with genuine Apple 30 pin to lightning adapters for an IP5S.
All were working perfectly prior to the upgrade. Now,apart from charging, nothing at all in respect of playing music through them.Does anyone have any ideas?

What is this 30pin you talk of? I think my parents were telling stories of it the other day but switched off.

Every time any new OS is released there is bhing and moaning until people know how to use it.

iOS 8 is an incremental improvement over iOS 7. iOS 7 was dramatically different and better than iOS 6.

In two weeks, OP, you will be fine with it as you will have found the options and settings that suit you personally. People hated Windows 8. Now (with 8.1) its really very usable. What's the difference? Twelve months of people getting used to it.

User friendly is what you know...give it time.
