The long and short of it is class 10 is 'fastest' and you can buy up to 128gb now (very recent) though 64gb cards are now reasonable money and the majority of the big names will suffice(samsung, sandisk spring to mind).

Don't get a sandisk. The one I have is the only sandisk card I've owned and is by far the worst. Its basically unusable when connected to a computer - either through the phone, a card reader, the SD adapter that came with it, tried various different computers, its always the same, really slow and just un monts itself.

The first one ended up dying completely, I couldn't format it. Claimed on warranty which meant sending it recorded delivery to Czechoslovakia, a week or two after receiving it they sent me another one, which is just as st.

Last time I buy anything from Sandisk.

To balance Crafty's post above: I have got half a dozen Sandisk cards from 4-32GB which I have used for over 5 years in cameras, phones and computers without any problems.

There are many fake cards about, buy from a reputable place and you'll be fine.

This +1000 it's a veritable mine field, avoid random ebay shops even if the prices are tempting.

128GB is the current maximum that you can get and will work.

The manufacturers stated maximums are usually based on what was the maximum available at the time of release.

I've had a 32G sandisk since I had my Desire Z so for quite a while, the card has since moved to quite a few new phones before ending up in my Tablet fairly recently, not a problem at all.

Either you got a duff one or as others have said one of many fakes knocking about.

My card came from Amazon themselves, before claiming on warranty I had to provide serial numbers etc to prove it wasn't a fake, the replacement card came direct from Sandisk, no fakes here.

It's more the 'marketplace' shops you have to be careful of, general common sense applies though in that if it's too good to be true it probably is and if you get a card that looks nothing like the product or is branded "Sumsang" then it may not be real (previous sentence may contain mild exaggeration).

If you're really paranoid a read/write test using something like HD tune or HD tach will soon tell you if it's a genuine class 10 card or the appropriate size. (or at least performs the same as a genuine card in which case you may not care)

I doubt if it'd stay mounted long enough to complete. All my camera stuff has been/is Transcend - not as trendy but I've never had a problem.
