Well they will get more stable as you get closer to release, but betas are only meant to be functionally complete, not stable.
You know, this really does go without saying.
absolutely it shouldn't need saying, but the poster was saying he's had to revert to win7 because w10 doesn't work properly, and he'd expect it to be more stable.
Except I never said I expected it to be stable...??? confused and I reverted to Windows 8, not 7 which IMO there isn't too much difference between that (8) and 10.

Noticed the ability to switch desktops, but I wasn't really a fan of that on Gnome et al anyway tongue out

For larger memory environments, hibernate/wake was always slower than shutdown/startup
It's some kind of hybrid hibernation, any running programs are gone, it looks like a clean boot but just way too fast and the uptime hasn't been reset. Like it just hibernates the kernel or something.

I have it as the main os on my pc at the moment. It takes a little getting used to but it runs quite well for what is a technical preview. The only main issue I have is the keyboard randomly stops working when using Google Chrome. The desktop icons are a little rubbish but I can live with it smile

Alas I've gone back to Windows 8.1 for now on my laptop...

Wifi never connects automatically, despite checking box to connect automatically
That would be a killer for me, as my new Dell 9530 laptop doesn't have a built-in LAN port.

I've decided to endure 8.1 until closer to Win10 shipment date. It's much less annoying to me than 8.0. Hopefully 10 will be a straight upgrade rather than fresh install, as installing all of my dev stuff takes ages.
My laptop occasionally has a problem with the wireless not connecting; it also occasionally drops connection to the external USB drives. Reboot normally resolves that.

I'm really, really liking W10.

Shame there isn't an official build released yet for my 1020, that'd be an interesting one to try.

It's a sensible policy - it'll mean millions of people who would quite happily have stuck with 7 for as long as they've stuck with XP will go for the upgrade, meaning Microsoft will be able to cut off support much more quickly. By limiting it for a year they still guarantee themselves significant revenue.

A new build (10041) is meant to be out, but I don't have it, despite having it set to the Fast ring.

Annoyingly they haven't updated the ISOs yet (at least on here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/preview... I was going to try shoehorning Windows 10 into an oldish Vista laptop.

ETA - ah ISOs are for 'slow ring' builds only http://www.anandtech.com/show/9094/windows-10-upda...

Install crapped out at 98%, rolled back. No option to reinstall. Don't even get the boot option to roll back. Might do a clean install when back off holiday.

I only ever use Cortana when I'm bored, and ask for a joke or an impression .... pretty much the same with Siri on my iPhone as well.

It is great for setting reminders, especially location based.

I tend to do those things the old fashioned way .... works perfectly, more accurate as well.

What's that, remembering things?! bks to that, "remind me so and so when I get home" is so much easier and frees my brain up for less mundane activities like scratching my balls biggrin

Having successfully updated my old Dell laptop last night, I don't have the update available on my newer Lenovo Yoga Pro 3, plus the added complication that there is a Intel Graphics Driver update, that won't install, either via Windows Update, or any of the manual methods;
