I'm running a Lumia 930 and it's now pretty much the only Lumia in the range that doesn't currently do Windows 10 for phones. Sigh!
Anyone else running it on their Lumia yet? Any comments welcome?
I really wouldn't sweat it, it's not ready for use even as a tech preview on a 'daily driver' phoneAnyone else running it on their Lumia yet? Any comments welcome?

- "stock" camera application only takes full resolution images, the live preview image shows 4 flattened previews across the top of the screen (rendering it useless)
- no way to set an alarm for a time other than 7am.
- people hub pulls contacts through from twitter and facebook, the option for filtering isn't yet available.
- new calendar feels way nicer than before
- gestures for deleting emails is way clunkier than the old click to the left option
- after trying spartan, the 1020 is now stuck in flight mode. Flight mode isn't supposed to be available. As a result I can't get the phone to now work as a phone. SIM card is now back in the always reliable(ish) 808.
The overall interface though is a nice evolution of what was already there. I can see where they're going with it, and once they get all the options working, its going to be pretty good. But it is a VERY early release, so there's bound to be some problems here and there.
On the subject of the 1020, I was disappointed to learn today there won't be a successor. I know some people aren't that impressed with the camera but I've loved it (and if I want to take proper photos I use my 20D) and having a proper flash is just the best.
I'll be due an upgrade in a few months so I'm not sure whether I'm going to stick with the WP platform this time round.
Please don't derail this by banging on about the 808

Love my 1020. Back on it after a short stint with a 930 that I managed to lose in Vietnam. Wasn't particularly impressed with the 930 anyway. Will wait till the Win10 builds are more polished before installing it though.
My Surface Pro keeps glitching on the picture password screen in the latest build so have had to switch back to password which is annoying.

I would be amazed if they didn't take the opportunity to release a new flagship or two around the launch of Windows 10.I'll be due an upgrade in a few months so I'm not sure whether I'm going to stick with the WP platform this time round.

My 1020 is back on 8.1 (but with GDR2 from the Insider channel); the camera is good, but the startup is WAY too slow. When on holiday last week I was carrying the 1020 for phone duties, SLR/50mm for creative photographic purposes and ... the 808 for spur of the moment shots. The 808 is still way better than the 1020 for 95% of stills.I'll be due an upgrade in a few months so I'm not sure whether I'm going to stick with the WP platform this time round.

GDR2 is a stepping stone to W10, finally gets the settings menu organised into something sensible.
There are different rumours around about what MS are intending to release. I've seen one mention of a phablet sized 40+mp pureview device. Which would keep me on the platform.

Haha, you just reminded me to reinstall the insider app. Had to send my phone off for warranty repair when it decided to delete its boot loader which was when I got the 930. Update is now preparing to install GDR2 is a stepping stone to W10, finally gets the settings menu organised into something sensible.

Possibly premature, but wiping the device and reloading firmware seems to have improved battery life. Having gone through all the updates, being on the 8.1 Developer Preview, then swapping to the formal denim update, something went screwy along the way. the device worked fine, but battery life was shockingly bad. 3 hours since being taken off charge, and its still showing 100%. Would have normally dropped to 90% or lower by now.

Once you've got GDR2, delete the insider app. W10 is full of promise, but should have only been made available to "real" insiders.

Cheers for the heads up I might just deregister in the app for a while till W10 is more stable. So, more announcements at the recent Microsoft developer event...IMHO it's all looking pretty good.
I like the stuff around universal apps that are the same on phone and PC. So in theory you can write an app once and it runs on any platform. No distinction between phone apps, desktop apps, console apps...the same apps run on different form factors and adapt in sensible ways. This is IMHO what Microsoft should have done 2 years ago. They sort of tried, but as usual it's taken them a few versions to get moving in the right direction, and I'm sure it will take a few more to get it right
Doing the Office suite this way was a good move IMHO, it shows that the technology works for "serious" apps.
The new browser looks good although I haven't tried it, I'm not brave enough to join the insider programme
Given its current state, especially that of the phone version, I'd be amazed if they get this out in summer as a production release.

I'm finding the desktop build to be relatively good and stable. Mild irritations all over the place, worst is definitely the start button behaviour when I connect/disconnect an external screen, it brings up the start menu each time. Overall though, it does "feel" close to being ready. On mobile though, it effectively bricked my 1020, which hasn't had any problems with any of the various developer previews before the first W10 release. That definitely isn't ready for consumer use. No wonder they're suggesting a staggered release.
I found Windows 10 perfectly stable. But, broken mail and calendar was too inconvenient so I am back on 8.1.
Personally, I like the true universal 'Windows Apps' direction. I don't like the current hybrid Start MeScr, I think the Start Screen was better (once you have Pinned the ones you really need). In fact I would say that the design clarity of the Win8 UI has been lost and that is a shame.
Bloody Customers!

I primarily "do" email on my mobile (WP8.1), occasionally drop into the W8.1 tablet for email. Much prefer the mobile experience on there to the W8.1 tablet design. Mildly irritated that for the brief period I was running W10 on the mobile, email looked more like it does on W8.1 - ie. ruddy awful.Personally, I like the true universal 'Windows Apps' direction. Email, when I do use it on W10, is typically via chrome and gmail, no dedicated application.
Already have a good number of universal apps that are available on both the phone and the tablet, so that future is already here in some small way.
