Firstly, I have to wait for the whole Oppo situation to resolve itself. I am not happy with the phone and I have lost confidence in it - it needs to be reliable when out and about, without crashing or corrupting data. Once I have it returned and refunded, I will take a few weeks to see if the price of the Note 3 comes down when the 4 is released.
Having had two replacements F5 from them, it took a bit to get it right. But, they did it without any question, no costs on my side and very swift. On top of that, they only want the phone back so you're left with your accessories and you get new ones.
As you know, I now have a perfect 7a and it's an amazing phone ime.

My two cents with the oppo:
- Pull out the battery, keep everything (including the quick charger)
- Send it to them
- Have a new one sent (you can opt for a different model, they're not to fussy about that)
- You now have two batteries and two quick chargers and a working phone

Again, my dealings with their customer support have been more than commendable. While other manufacturers will try and point the finger in another direction, or just "wipe" it and send it back, Oppo has never tried such a thing on me and always send me a brand new phone. Of course, before you send it they ask you to reset it to factory defaults once and see if that helps, it's standard practice.

Other than that, if you don't want the 7a, wait for the Nexus 6? If the bezels are small enough it might not be that much bigger than the F7a?
