All my devices drop connection but one of my laptops is a lot worse than others.I did sys restore (refresh) but no effect , i've ran scans to clean up any nasties - but still same prob.
The prob was there from day 1 - and i thought it was just an initial prob that would go away.It is under warranty and tech support lazily say i should do a format -yeah thanks mate just trash my system - very helpful.I didn't tell them it was there from Day 1 as they will use excuse "you should have told us earlier blah blah , now you made prob worse blah blah "
So is it an ISP prob(VMedia) or the laptop?
it is the only device i have running win8
Anything else i should /can do ?

Try flushing DNS

Get up a command prompt and enter

ipconfig /flushdns

And worth checking that the driver for the wireless card/adapter is up to date.

Is the connection wired or wireless? If the latter it could well be a channel issue where you've got neighbours using same one. It's easy enough to fix if so.

My new HP work laptop had this problem, it's had to go back to HP for them to look at it as changing the wireless card didn't help.

Previously in general the wireless was dropping connection and i changed channel - which helped - but this prob is particular to this laptop

I had a problem once with a wifi dongle and it would keep dropping the connection.

Turned out it was overheating for some reason, so a change of device solved the problem.

A few years ago I had a Dell laptop that would cause the router to crash. According to Dell the drivers were up to date but I checked on the wifi adapter manufacturer's website and there was a newer driver. Downloaded that and all was well again.

Try using an ethernet cable, turn WiFi off, see if you get the same problem, that will help narrow down if the ISP is at fault or it's a WiFi issue.

You could use a dos command and ping an ip address continuously and then log the output to a file. A quick google should provide the necessary commands. Just make sure you have enough disc space.
