Oh dear.....Looks my hudl will be going back for a replacement. Im suffering the 100% battery issue. I took if of charge and was browsing for a hour and the battery was still showing 100%. Put it on charge and the light went green(not charging) and refused to charge. Seem a common problem and its a replacement unit you get.
Try running it down to switch off, then charge. Seemed to work for me IIRC.
has the problem come back? I have just tried this and yup, your right its charging now....It is supposed to be getting picked up on Wednesday, will be without it for 2 weeks. Wondering if its worth sending away if its just a glitch that can be solved by letting it run down....
No, hasn't reappeared at all for me. I think I got the suggestion from the MoDaCo Hudl 2 forum, so may be worth checking there for other experiences.
Im now on my 3rd Hudl. this one is ok just now. One small Issue, when i put the volume up and down it dose increase and decrease. But the volume reads 0% at all times

How have your Hudls been since doing this?

My Hudl has been fine (odd hiccup aside, see above) but my mum has been through 3 different Hudl 2s and every one has managed to get stuck at 100%. She only uses the stock Hudl charger and only has a few basic apps on the device (mine on the other hand gets charged randomly using any random USB-based charger, is rooted and loaded with as much crap as I can cram onto the device, yet hasn't seen this issue).
Only issues I seem to have now are occasionally sulky micro USB/charger connection, which could be either wire or other end, plus hesitant start up when charging cable pulled out and trying to start up (though not often & just needs leaving a tiny while if it does freak out).

Overall, still a bargain for the money, if you can live with the battery life & dimensions.

Hi

I picked a Hudl2 up last week, pretty impressed so far.

I have disabled the Tesco apps, would adding a launcher increase performance or just make it look snazzy? Also - can anyone recommend an ad blocker?

Definitely not.

Anyway, if other devices are representative, a KitKat to Lollipop update would render the device useless.

Both of my sons have the Hudl 2, and aside from the battery "only" lasting about 6 hours, they're pretty reliable. Neither has had a problem.

My oldest uses it for reading comics, youngest seems to be addicted to watching minecraft videos on youtube ...

I'm afraid I didn't read this before clicking the star. It's quite different from previously and odd features need re-learning. Still works though - why would they need to do this?

To update it to the latest software, apparently more secure as the storage is encrypted (which can affect performance) - it's actually refreshing that companies support their product though, htc and Samsung both stopped support of handsets I previously owned despite the hardware being very capable.

I'm holding off for now as my hudl 2 works great, better battery life could sway me though. I've had lollipop 5.0.2 on my Moto G for ages and it's been fine - I'm going to keep an eye on Modaco and see how others find 5.1

Lollipop update fine here.
No noticeable difference apart from the notifications and the running apps screen.
Try and clear all the crap, junk and temp files before you do it though.

I see, thanks. The text on the pop up keyboard is a bit 'spidery'. I will hunt about to see if there's a settings option.

Not entirely fine here as getting random messages that x or y has stopped. I don't really use any of them, but not 100% confidence inspiring. Can't say I've noticed any great battery life improvements, but not remotely surprised at that.

Guess BigsimonY was being serious... hehe

Anyone had any charging issues with 5.1? After having 3 different Hudls with the same charging problem (reported charge level stuck at some level no matter the use/trying to charge, then cutting out) my mother has managed to do the same to my rooted Hudl 2 currently running 4.4 laughirked

I stupidly thought 'feck it' and updated to 5.1 yesterday, should have followed my head and not bothered - it's laggier and jerkier than kit kat despite factory resetting after the update.

My favourite browser doesn't work anymore, battery life is worse (kernel being the drain - had this with kit kat but it resolved) charges much quicker though.

I'd hold off.

I've just bought a 'phone with Kitkat on it (it is new but still has a two edition lag on the firmware), and if an update comes along for it I'll be wary of the change without looking at others' experiences.

I've got lollipop 5.0.2 on my phone and it's rock solid.

Noticed on the Hudl that it's not connecting to 5ghz wifi, it says it's connected, but it isn't.

I won't upgrade mine then. Is there any way to get rid of the notification in the status bar without installing it?

Have x2 hudl 2's here, both connected to 5ghz before and after the lollipop update with no issues.
