I've added a 128Gb card to the hudl 2 but I'm having problems getting the device to save data to the card. Most of the stuff I do is downloading content in apps for viewing on the train. Ideally I'd like to be able to download iplayer etc to save to the memory card, is this possible?

This may be a 2+2=5 conclusion to say Hudl is being dropped, but Hudl and Hudl 2 were released in October, Tesco are cutting back wherever they can, and they have said there are no current plans for a Hudl 3.

On the other hand, they have released the Android Lollipop update (however shonky it may be), and maybe they don't want to put people off buying a 2 for Christmas by saying 3 is coming.

No reason for them to release a Hudl 3. The Hudl 2 is still indecently good value for money, and as long as they keep making them, they'll continue to sell them.

Cracking little devices, but I do expect (or hope) for a patch to Lollipop to resolve some of the issues.

I still haven't updated due to the issues people are having. Shame that no Hudl3 looks to be released. It would have been nice to have had a better camera.

I agree, the Hudl 2 is a great wee sofa tablet. I'm always playing about on mine when the wife is watching whatever reality rubbish is on. I'm certainly not updating to lollipop based on most users experiences with it. Looks like it was a rush job, full of bugs and issues. I cant see a update coming soon tbh as Tesco seem to be in denial that there is even a massive issue with their 5.1 update. As for a Hudl 3, im not so sure there is a need for one. The current Hudl still has legs yet. Maybe a summer/autumn launch for a Hudl 3 ? if there is one. I don't think Tesco actually make money of the Hudl, no one really uses the Tesco launcher do they? I disabled all Tesco apps and installed Nova. Im sure Tesco were hoping to make money of there movie and music service, plus there other services pre installed on the Hudl 2. They sold there movie, music and Ebook stores. So that only leaves profit making from the device, now that's tricky on a £130 device that gets slashed to £99 normally after 9 months, add to the fact you can get huge chunks of money of it if you have club card points.

When they are gone from stock, thats it.

I thought this might happen and I'd been holding on to buy one with Clubcard points on 2 November (when the new batch arrives). It's a mission of mercy to my local store tonight instead, then...

Real shame but this has proved to me that I don't need a high end tablet to be satisfied with its performance. Will use this one til it dies. I wonder if we will see a demand in used devices now..

Bit of a bugger.
My lad has had his hudl for about a year and managed to crack the screen this week on holiday. Looks like spares and repairs are hard to come by as well.

I would advise anyone who uses the Hudl2 NOT to "upgrade", especially if you use the SkyGo app. It now just crashes or runs very jerkily.

Is there any way to revert back to the previous Android OS version?

My Hudl 2 replaced an original Nexus 7 which has now deteriorated to repeated operating system failures and takes forever to do anything.
The Hudl 2 is probably better - it gains an inch in the screen and has a memory card slot and HDMI output.
My main gripe was what seemed to be a shorter battery range but found that turning it off, rather than leaving it in standby rather cured that, to a large degree and it fires up so much quicker than the bloody Nexus 7 "eternity" boot that it's not an issue.

I think I paid £89 on ebay, can't fault that. Even if it broke tomorrow...

I now feel lucky that I randomly just walked into a store on Thursday and bought one, with no idea it was discontinued.

Tempted to go back and see if there is any more stock.

If you have updated to 5.1, i believe it works better after a factory reset.

I fear you are right. The ones left are now silly prices.
