If you have updated to 5.1, i believe it works better after a factory reset.
My youngests Hudl 2 has been a little problematic since 5.1 - every so often he'll put it into standby, then a little later it won't wake up. Needs a restart whenever that happens.

Maybe if this continues we should try a full reset.

There is a good Facebook members Hudl 2 page. The general talk is a factory reset is needed after the update. I must say i still cant understand why people are still updating to 5.1

It asks you to, many people wouldn't think to do anything else and not everyone is materially afflicted?

Had the odd minor glitch, but nothing on the scale that some seem to have had. Lucky or very lucky? Not sure, but as an almost throwaway tablet, not that concerned either way.

Mine is fine after updating too; just a bit different from before in the interface appearance.

Sooo my Hudl gave up, still in warranty but uneconomic to repair so a full refund issued. No more stock so took my £130 and bought a Asus Zenpad 10, similar specs and a wee bit bigger. its ok, not as good a screen but bigger. Its all i could find for the same money without going down the non branded Chinese oem market

As the Hudl 2 is no more, I have bought a couple of Asus MemoPad 8s for my kids given they were £80 each from Argos on ebay (new, not refurbed).
I was looking at the Kindle Fire until I realised it wasn't true Android.

Even if they are no longer state of the art, they will be fine for what my sub-10 year old kids want.

I cannot work out how you move movies or other apps to the sd card that I have put in it. When my daughter wants different apps or whatever you cannot down load it even though the sd card is pretty much empty. I have moved all the apps that I can to the sd card. Some it appears like I player you cannot move.
What am I doing wrong here. You must be able to move the videos from Blinkbox to the card surely?
It seems daft having the sd card if you can't actually move anything to it, or download directly to it.
Please help it is driving me round the bend.

I use filemanager (a free app I seem to recall) and VLC media player.

many thanks, so a file manager app will let you move existing apps and will let you select the folder to move the film (from blinkbox) when downloading?

This is the issue. There is a small amount of space available on the internal memory. But there isn't enough space to download a film, and it appears you cannot select the SD card to download the film direct to.
I can't remove any more apps to free up space. It seems very frustrating. Some of the forums seem very technical to me, and talk about rooting. Not too sure if that is the answer and may well create more problems than it solves!

I cannot say because I have never downloaded films to mine. I am still in the foothils of learning Android too.

I still haven't upgraded after hearing horror stories about 5.1. When it finally works with the Hudl then I'll download it.

I've been using quite a while now. Actually it's running better and longer too. If you can run something like ccleaner on it first before you upgrade it should be fine.
Did you use the app on the previous version?

Don't think you will ever download it then, I believe all support and developing is now defunct. The version you have waiting to be downloaded is likely to be the only update you'll get now.

At the end of the day you get horror stories about all operating systems.
I can confirm the GoPro app works fine on the Hudl2 with 5.1 though.

I was advised on here a while back not to accept a SW update on the Hudl2. The star in the corner of the screen is still there.

Should i accept the SW update now? What is the concensus and what are the downsides of updating?

Thanks

Ray, I allowed the update on mine and have had no problems at all. All that being as it may, I am not a complex, demanding user so might get off lightly anyway. My daughter's partner is an IT bod and his is updated too and he's rarely reticent about problems - nothing heard from him either. HTH
