I've never had any of the issues others have had,re the usb port,the screen etc and I bought one of the very first Hudls.I thought it was well made.
The cameras were totally useless in my opinion but then again I use my phone for taking photos like most people.
I did find the Hudl pretty lethargic in general use so may be tempted by the new one after I've demo'd it and read some reviews

We bought 2 for the kids when launched last year, replaced one of them within a couple of months as the wifi signal was really poor, replaced both of them about a month ago as the usb was borked. We assumed it was down to the kids wiggling the plug to get it out but the tesco tech desk acknowledged it was a common problem and had been redesigned. The screen on both is better than expected, camera is awful though. The cameras were totally useless in my opinion but then again I use my phone for taking photos like most people.

Yes the wi-fi is pretty weak compared to other devices,I hope they've improved that
I installed a wifi app that automatically reconnects if the signal drops and gives you info on the connection. We have a sky booster bix in our bedroon and he has no problem with the signal in the room across the landing.First hands on review here

Just had a play with one in store... It's hard to give it a proper evaluation there I know, but I was impressed - I have the original Hudl and it's a massive step up from that in terms of screen and general feel.
I don't think that review's particularly negative - it just points out that there are better tablets on the market, but at that price point it appears every bit as attractive as the original did for someone who just wants a decent entry level device!

)I wouldn't buy one because it has an Intel processor. Any app which uses native code (Android NDK) that hasn't been compiled for x86 architecture will run slowly. 10% of apps using native code will not run at all. There are loads of apps that use native code and have not been compiled for x86. That means the processor has to translate the native ARM code which leads to piss poor performance.
Went out today looking for one to have a nose at, none of the local stores had one but they did have some 8" tablets and have come to the conclusion it would be too small to replace the Mac. Mainly because the missus does online ordering for shopping and 8" screen was too little to see everything.
We did however see some 11" laptops, and a bit of research Ive decided on a Dell Chromebook 11. A bit more expensive (£100 more) but a proper keyboard, 10 hrs from the battery, 4gb ram and 16gb memory.

I have had an intel phone for the last 12 months and have had 1 app that wouldn't run,a satnav app.Don't know if it was because of the reasons you say but I certainly wouldn't let that put me off buying an intel powered tablet
Camera seems to be a bit better on this one, better at actually getting a decent picture without too much noise. I only had the chance to play with it in lower light but it seemed clearer.
The screen is quite nice as well, nice colours and good brightness/contrast. I haven't had the chance to have a proper play with it yet but hopefully will tomorrow. So far though it looks good for the price.

Guess where I work? We've got the table display out and the demo models all rigged up in our store, so far the customers who have been playing seem impressed. It's a massive step up on the original one from what I can see, the screen looks great at least. I can see us shifting lots of these, especially now they come in pretty colours...

The original ones hardly ever worked in store did they,stuck in demo mode or had flat batteries if I remember.I can see us shifting lots of these, especially now they come in pretty colours...

The demo mode on this one does actually let you do stuff on it 
The camera still isn't the best, definitely still a "daylight only" affair, but the screen is fantastic, the speakers very good and performance on the couple of games I tried was pretty good as well.

Being Intel based is a big downer for me me. I have the original Hudl (bought for my daughter) and for what she needs there is no point swpaping. If you want a 'proper' tablet - surely you'd buy a Nexus 7 ?
I don't see the Hudl 2 being any "less" of a tablet than the Nexus 7. Going Intel is a curious choice, but you'll probably still have access to way more apps than you would with a Kindle Fire.I can't see either of my sons wanting to upgrade theirs, the Hudls they have are working perfectly (with the exception of a bizarre issue with Skype and A2DP headsets - which is apparently a well known bug on Android).
