Ray, I allowed the update on mine and have had no problems at all. All that being as it may, I am not a complex, demanding user so might get off lightly anyway. My daughter's partner is an IT bod and his is updated too and he's rarely reticent about problems - nothing heard from him either. HTH
Both of my sons had theirs updated without any problems.

Only problem with one of them was when I sat on it. Screen completely screwed. Picked up a Lenovo 10" tablet, lower resolution screen (but WAY more vivid), fair bit slower. But one huge advantage - the Hudl 2 battery life was never that great. The Lenovo goes for about twice as long on a charge.

I updated mine a couple of months ago and again I have had no problems although I don't use it for anything technical - I use it as a remote for Kobi and to control my Denon av receiver.

One thing I will say about the update process is it does take a while, about 20 minutes, and there were a couple of occasions when I thought it had stopped/crashed. Just leave it alone and wait for it to finish.

IT Bod here too, and no problems with the update.
If you can, factory reset before you update to give the update the cleanest install.

No problems when I updated but I swear it takes a lot longer to boot.

I find it gets to being usable slower but some apps are running before the interface appears.

I also have a problem of it starting up with no icons occasionally.

Yes, I've had that.
