Ha!
My advert said the same thing.
Knew something was wrong when the icons were a modern looking affair.
st, hope my introduction to Apple isn't spending the first several hours bringing it up to date! That's one of the reasons I turned to the dark side in the first place My advert said the same thing.

Status report two weeks after installation:
2008 - 24" IMac:
Much faster, smoother, the "new" screen looks fabulous. Sharp colours, much better definition. Never had a single issue, Itunes is not that bad after you get familiar with the new interface. I've notice a bit higher usage of RAM but it doesn't slow the machine in any way. Seems to run a bit cooler now (about 5C lower) than on Mavericks. I was just about to take the plunge and get a new IMac....now I will wait for at least another 12/18 months before getting a new Mac.
Overall very happy with the update.

I'm not sure where 'hours bringing it up to date' comes from. With a decent internet connection you'll have the 5Gb upgrade downloaded in under 15 minutes and then it takes c. 20 minutes to installed. Cripes, I installed Yosemite on to my new SSD (and installed the SSD) in under an hour last week!
To be fair it wasn't a massive ball ache but considering I ordered it on the 18th October and it only arrived yesterday, I was excited to get up and running ASAP, you know how it is!But it wasn't just Yosemite that needed downloading and installing, there was around 15 apps including all of iWork that needed some TLC before i could get started with the 100GB+ iPhoto library and the 25GB+ iTunes library.

Another slightly off topic point...
Why the fook have Apple redesigned the charger on the latest MacBooks?
So I can't have a charger in work and a charger at home, I have to carry one round with me.
You can have a little converter thing on the old one to power the new one. Much easier than carrying it all around. Why the fook have Apple redesigned the charger on the latest MacBooks?

Yup...that's pretty much what I've found, sharper, faster, cooler. And I'm running an old machine.2008 - 24" IMac:

Curses. I found a report in a Mac magazine (online) about a third party app where you can tweek the font that is blurred (I think). Also found hack that seems to be acceptable through a well known mac forum (instal a script that runs on startup I think).
Now I cannot find that report on that app. Anyone know it?

I updated my 2012 mac book pro with yosemite last week or so, hadnt really used it much, but was using it over the weekend and had a couple of issues. when switching it on, instead of getting the little picture of me and another saying 'guest' at log in, it was all grey and said under what would be my profile 'update required'. then when logigng in it looked like it was booting/ finishing an install. I shutdown and started again a few times, but this always happened, checked there were no updates or anything waiting.
also wifi reception seemed much poorer (wasnt able to pick up wifi signal in bedroom when ipad and phone could). the machine also seemed to be lagging a bit, taking a while to open up programmes and stuff, lots of little beachball action.
I decided to just download yosemite again and re-install it, took maybe an hour all in and it seems to have fixed whatever issues were there. all seems good and wasnt too much bother updating. at first i didnt like the look of the new screens/layouts etc... but totally used to it now

Have noticed that my wifi signal is slowing down on macbook... thought it was just safari, but its firefox as well.
Strange that no other devices have the same issue in the property.
Seems I'm not alone:

You can change the default font on 10.10 to that of 10.9 if you preferred it, also you can change the 'smoothing'Now I cannot find that report on that app. Anyone know it?

I'm happy to increase the memory if that's worthwhile, although tbh this does pretty much all I want, the majority of the time. More recently it does seem to get clogged up occasionally and require a reboot, which it never used to. I use it for browse/email/Office, I have all my music on it, I edit pics with GIMP, and I (very) occasionally stitch some video together, and that's it's main use.
I just don't want to end up with something worse if I upgrade, but I don't want to be left behind in a "your OS won't support this" manner either!
