My early 2011 MBP is very happy on 10.10 - has 8GB RAM and SSD though.
I've got a mid 2011 mac, currently on 4gb of RAM which is an easy upgrade to perform to 8gb- how did you get the SSD upgrade? or am I a complete spanner, and thats what I got too?gizlaroc said:
I am running a 2008 imac core 2 duo with only 4gb ram and that is running really well with Yosemite and an SSD.
SSD is easy to fit, just takes half an hour to fit to an iMac as you have to take it apart in a strange way.
OSX really struggles on anything less than 8GB, given how cheap and easy an upgrade is I'd strongly suggest you do so, will transform the performance.SSD is easy to fit, just takes half an hour to fit to an iMac as you have to take it apart in a strange way.
Yeah, I will do.
I hear different reports though whether that imac can take 8gb, officially it is 6gb, but many have said 8gb is fine, some have said it starts acting weird.
It is only the old one in the playroom, my MBPr has 8GB and just bought an Mac Mini, that will get upgraded to 8gb or more, and an SSD.
But I think the iMac is running better on Yosemite than the last two OS releases.

Just upgraded my 2010 MacMini from Snow Leopard to Yosemite.... took a long time to download, but apart from that the install was fine.
Not keen on the 'flat icons' ( any way of getting the 'classic' ones back on ?), but it seems to be quicker on PH pages.... so far !
Only glitch was it would not open iPhoto, and said I needed to upgrade that Application. When I tried to do this, it would not let me download it, which was quite annoying.
Got in contact with Apple and the answer was to uninstall the 'old' version of iPhoto, and then it would allow me to download the latest version.
Seems to work OK now.
Time will tell, but Yosemite seems OK.

anyone having trouble with wifi drop outs after the update I've got one client with 4 mbp's late 2012's they upgraded and have been having a mare since then.
oh yes...and many others on the internet are reporting this problem too - me included! I decided after reading many supposed fixes that it's probably not worth trying anything further until the first update gets released.
