~£1000 Laptop (13/15" SSD Windows) Any suggestions?!
Discussion
Hi all, Edit: Thanks for the advice, I've bought the one in the link below
I'm looking at getting a 13" laptop, only stipulations really are that it must be windows and SSD! 13" is what I'm looking at but 15" would be ok too. So far I am thinking this one would be good, I'm going to plug in a monitor/keyboard/mouse when at work:

You can also get a better version from America, but not sure if the price/import/warranty issues would make it worth it.

We have an ACER Aspire S7 which has been pretty good to us in the last 12 months. I think you already know the advantages of SSD etc.
I think the thickness (11mm), screen quality, touch pad, touch screen, build materials are all plus points. Only negative is the keyboard needs a firm contact to make sure every keystroke is registered.

Totally off topic and I apologise, but it's been a very long time since I last bought a Windows laptop but they surprise me at how much they cost.
I always assumed MacBooks were a lot more expensive but for example the one the OP posted is a similar price to the same spec Macbook Pro.
Anyway, as you were, and to keep on topic I quite like the look of the Acer Aspire S7.

The Macbook pro 13", with a lower display resolution than the Asus posted, configured like the Asus (256GB SSD, 8GB, i7) is over £200 (or 20%) more expensive. I always assumed MacBooks were a lot more expensive but for example the one the OP posted is a similar price to the same spec Macbook Pro.

How did you come to the conclusion that a similar spec Mac would be equally expensive?
That's without a windows license, which the OP and a lot of users need unfortunately.
On top of that, Apple pricing is pretty much fixed, the Asus price on the Asus site is most likely the highest price you'll find for that device online, retailers probably have it for less.

MacBook Air with similar spec is £1,209.00 (256GB SSD, 8GB RAM and i7) Costs less if you can apply educational discount coming in at £1,039.20. Chuck in another £100 for windows licence and Parallels and it's pretty much the same price as the ASUS.
