Which Tablet For Business Use
Discussion
So a change of roles within the company soon will mean i won't be office based 9-5 like i currently am.
I've been offered the use of a laptop, although i would prefer a tablet.
I will have use of my desktop when in the office, but the tablet will be used on the road/at home in the evenings.
Main uses will be for email, reading of PDF drawings (this is what it'll be used for on site) & why i'd rather have a tablet than a laptop, some light Excel/Word work.
I was pushing for a Microsoft Surface Pro, but i'm also looking for alternatives, attachable keyboard a must.
It also has to be Windows based so cannot be an 'Idevice'.
Anyone been in a similar situation that can help out & offer suggestions?

The Surface Pro 3 is a serious bit of kit and a great machine.
Alternatives? The Lenovo "Yoga" series seems nice, though more a laptop feel and you sacrifice a bit in portability.
The main downside that I could list for the Surface compared to the "convertibles" is that it lacks connections. Everything needs some sort of adaptor. It's no Tab/iPad, but it's no laptop either in that aspect.

I was sat beside someone in Starbucks yesterday who was using one, emails and excel, and a USB mouse.Alternatives? The Lenovo "Yoga" series seems nice, though more a laptop feel and you sacrifice a bit in portability.

That looks remarkable value, including Windows and Office. Is it any good?ETA: Some reviews make a good case for it; trustedreviews.com.

The cheaper version (as this one) however boast less battery and a worse screen.
I would not want to use it for work for an entire day, it's just a tad too small. Iirc the new surface is 13", this one is only 10". Big difference for an entire day of work.

Thanks guys, i'm still trying to push for the Surface Pro 3!
What's the difference between the 2 & 3?
3 is larger and slimmerWhat's the difference between the 2 & 3?
Updated processors iirc, make for better battery life.
Also, the two has only two positions for the stand. The 3 is limitless adjustable. Not really a problem but if you just got the reflection of some light wrong...
There's probably some more but I've only worked with both for little more than a day...

It's pretty damn good for the money for sure.ETA: Some reviews make a good case for it; trustedreviews.com.
As ZesPak says, you probably wouldn't want to work on it all day, but for the OP's use it would be fine.
Just the job for reading PDF's and doing basic office tasks like email and excel/word whilst away from the office PC.
ETA - of course if the OP can get them to stump up for a Surface Pro 3 then it's a no-brainer
