With payday only a week away, I'm very tempted to buy a tablet using money from my TVR savings account...

I had an iPad 2 when it first came out and loved it, I used it every single day I owned it and after 18 months I sold it to fund my RX-7 purchase.

Eventually I replaced it with a Nexus 7 (the original one) which was a good little tablet but definitely lacking the grunt and quality of the iPad - unfortunately my dog jumped on it and broke the touch screen. I gave it to a colleague...

These days I don't really care for Apps or games on my phone so this isn't something I care about with the tablet either. All I want is something with a cracking battery life and the ability to stream media and browse websites without any issue.
My brain is telling me to go for the iPad but I just can't be bothered with linking it to iTunes - I like to just drag and drop!

Also, my colleauge has just got around to fixing my old Nexus and says he'll sell it back to me for £60 (£30 labour, £30 parts) - which is probably the smart thing to go for, but I kind of want something new!

TL,DR:

What tablet should I get if I just want to browse the web and watch YouTube video's?

Sounds like you want a Windows one.

Surface 2? Or 3?
Nokia 2520?
Dell and Lenovo both have tablets...

If you liked your Nexus 7, have a look at the new Nexus 9.

what about the new Tesco HUDL - I've read that it's a great tablet at a very reasonable price?

Tesco Hudl2 - great reviews and a good tablet for £130.
If you want something new and shiny get the Nexus 9 (bigger screen may be better for all those videos).

If you love spending money, or love apple, or have iDevices already then get an iPad of some sort.

I make this to be spot on.

Tesco direct had the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 for £199, might be worth checking if they still have it.

Great piece of kit.

Cheers... Would love a MS Surface Pro 3 but its just too expensive!

I'll check out the Nexus 9, Hudl and others mentioned.

Nexus 9 being my main choice at the moment.

For you usage - why not buy a Hisense Sero 8.

Get your prejudices past its Chinese origins (after all, that's where the iPad is made) and you have a quad core tablet runnin Android Kit Kat for the princely sum of £69.99 (eBuyer). Oh, and it takes SD cards (stitch that Apple).

Just bought three of them for way less than the price of a single iPad mini and not locked in to Tesco/Amazon/iTunes/woteva.

After reading many reviews I picked up the Hudl 2.

Only negative thing the reviewers have said is the poor battery life compared to its competitors which was a concern - then I realised 75% of the time I'll use it I'll be 2 feet from a plug socket so popped down to Tesco's handed over my money and voila!
