Hi all,

Does anyone have an invite to try Google Inbox? PM me if you have one and I'll pass on the favor to anyone else who wants one.

Hopefully thanks in advance,

Jim

I want one too - had read the article already, didn't realise you could get invites for it!

Anyone remember Wave!? :-)

This sounds similar to some of the ways Google Now operates currently, just unifying things more and progressing further with it.

Anyways, if somebody does get an invite, then I'm very interested in this !

Intrigued, but why do I get the feeling it will be yet another app that is made to look like a social media feed! Certainly be giving it a try though.

Yeah, I did that with my work and personal account last night, and a third lesser used account earlier today.

I imagine an invite will be email address specific, but just said I'd chuck my name in the hat too in case invites are issued merely with invite codes or whatever.

I'm still not sure what to expect without actually using it; as I mentioned above to me it seems very like what the Google Now service offers, with further integration and organisation. We'll find out soon enough I guess...

Bit concerned about signing up my business account without hearing some feedback first, if it doesn't work out can you revert back?

I'd imagine you can continue to use your existing gmail application or client, whatever you use currently. It seems this new service is being launched firstly as an app for Android, IOS, and for the Chrome browser / ChromeOS.

It's not going to affect your mail service, just organise it differently and try to be a better virtual assistant in conjunction with Google Now. That's what I'm reading between the lines anyhow.

Ah good point thanks, will try on my phone first.

I am still using microsoft outlook for my gmail account, never been able to get on with their web browser for emails.

Apparently the first wave of invites is out but despite applying before my first post I have not got one. Did anyone else who applied get one? If so I understand you get 3 invites to pass on if you are feeling generous...

I take it it just works for your Gmail account? Or can you add multiple accounts? My Gmail account is just for stuff I don't really care about.

Works alongside gmail, doesn't replace it. On mobile (if your accounts are there) you can swap between them, doesn't yet combine them. If you use the chrome desktop make sure you have accessed all of the accounts on the mobile first or it might say you haven't got an invite when you swap from your main gmail to your secondary/3rd etc. At least that's how I had to do it. Then when you have each account open they all have separate tabs in chrome.

As for invites the "invite to inbox" is conspicuous by it's absence - http://androidandme.com/2014/10/news/google-inbox-...

Edited to add, seems to take a few days if you get any, see below. But I sent a request to Google on the 22nd, got it yesterday 24th, 2 days that's all.

FAQ
Where are my invites?
Be patient: Invites show up after a few days, not right away. As per Google: "Once you have an invite, you can hover over the red create button and you will see a gold ticket - Invite to Inbox. Select that to enter your friend's email address and send the invitation. Note: if you received an invite from a friend today, your 3 invites to share won't be available [immediately]."
