Might be a battery draining WiFi bug as the cause of the delay - http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/11/05/the-androi...

Today should be the day, no OTA updates yet and nothing on here - https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images

However a Google+ update just failed to retrieve from the server so maybe they are doing things.

Images have now been uploaded.

You can wait for over the air, unless someone wants to do it manually.

If you want it early, just find a link to the OTA update zip and do it manually using the adb command line tool. There isn't much point pressing the check for updates button as it doesn't actually do anything due the way android updates work. A quote from an android developer:

Dan Morrill said:
Rollouts are conducted in phases. Typically they start at 1% of devices for around 24 - 48 hours; we watch the return rates and resulting device checkins and error reports (if any), and make sure nothing looks wrong before sending it to more. Then typically it goes to 25%, 50%, 100% over the course of a week or two. What the percentages mean is that when your device checks in, it has a 1% chance (for example) of being offered the OTA. If it doesn't (randomly) get an offer, it will never get an offer until the next batch. IOW, once your device checks in and gets turned down, that's it until the next batch. Mashing on the "check for updates" button just causes your device to check in again, and get automatically turned down again.
Keep an eye on androidpolice.com or the android subreddit for the link.

I've been running the preview for a while on my Nex5, but this release feels much better. The misc-battery drain bug seems to have gone, and I'm getting way less FC's.

Good stuff

Just had lollipop update on my original nexus 7 ..... So far seems good runs a touch smoother as it was starting to lag a bit over the last few weeks, not noticed any major changes as yet, as they say evolution, some apps like thumb keyboard which I use are not compatible, but given time that should be sorted.

Got the lolipop update earlier on my n5. Quite like it though don't think it is as slick in some areas but generally a nice update. There are a few quirks that I will need to get used to though.

Installed it on my original N7 last night.

Where's the uninstall option? It is now definitely slower than it was before. Chrome was always bad, now its truly terrible. They keyboard looks terrible (they've copied the uberweiss Apple design).

Its gone from being quite a nice little device to something that feels clunky and looks a bit nasty.

On the bright side, having recently picked up a Windows 8 tablet, I at least have a portable device that works quite well.

I have a 2012 Nexus 7 - been having to keep the apps to a minimum and keep email sync off to keep it most responsive recently. If 5 makes it worse I'll be upset frown Maybe I'll try a factory reset.

Pity, I was hoping that 5 might prolong the usefulness of my 2012 Nexus tablets.

My 2012 N7 was running quite well, and I had thought that 5 may give it a little extra zip. Definitely not the case. I do have a LOT of games on the N7, it was primarily a gaming device for my sons (and I tend to play a Sentinel 3 and Hill Climb Racing on it).

Maybe its better for owners of the 2012 N7 to wait for a 5.1 update that makes it usable, as it stands it makes my N7 feel like my iPhone 4S running iOS8 - ie. not really that great. Alternatively periodically clear your dalvik cache?

As someone who has to support multiple users with android phones, all the new version will do is most probably bring a whole host of new compatible issues with even more cars.

Turning all possible syncs and updates off helped a lot on mine. It keeps wifi off when asleep so as soon as you turn it on and it connects, it tries to to All The Things at the same time as you opening Chrome.
