Just got the 5.0.1 notification on the N10, I'm a bit apprehensive after my earlier gloating... hehe
It's perfectly fine, been using it for weeks.
You say that now...

Hit update before I went to bed, had a quick look 10mins later and I had a red triangle with "error" below it.

Rebooted, to a red triangle with "no command" below it.

Turn it off and forgot about it til now...

5.0.1 just came up on my 2013 N7 - looks like they skipped 5.0.0 for mine.

I don't think I'll allow it to install though.

Just had my 5.0.1 update for my 2013 N7.

All installed, no slowness, nothing untoward.

Different lock screen
Different 3 screen icons
Different way of viewing open apps
Different single swipe down anywhere along the top for notifications (was originally left side for notifications, right side for settings), click blue user icon blob for access to quick settings and the gear settings options icon.
Quicker to open screens, Chrome is quicker.

My folder backgrounds are still black. I though they were supposed to be white?

Ps. Mine is a 32GB version, have about half storage used with lots of apps (app we) so the swirling balls startup was quite long (might have been about 10 minute or more) followed by a big update screen. Let it finish, settle for a bit then did a shut down and reboot.

Swapping between launchers is very fast now as well, going from Android to Buzz launcher and back.

I like. smile

I've noticed a "quirk" that wasn't present before...
I have a /sim pin, and also a pattern lock on my phone. When I restart my device I get about 30 seconds to unlock the phone via pattern, and am able to browse around, until about 30 seconds later when the sim pin lock finally kicks in.

No big deal but still looks like another security issue to me. Anyone else noticed this?

Other than that, it's been ok - not overwhelming, and battery life sucks!

Something odd going on I reckon... probably app-wise.
My Nexus 5's battery life has been dramatically improved by lollipop. I used to get just about a full day, 06.00 - 23.00 down to 15-20% when it went on charge overnight. Over the last week or so it's not gone below 50% by the end of the day.
FTR, I had enabled ART on kitkat so didn't expect much change.

Further from last night.

Video playback - fine.
Casting video (BubbleUPNP, Plex) - fine
Cast screen - fine, seems quicker as well
No have apps stopped working and I have 355 currently installed.

It did take a long time to update last night to the point I googled to see if anyone else had a long startup. "Some forums" talked about rebooting, deleting cache, even doing a factory reset!. During this time (10-15mins) the screen changed to a white box with 1 of 355 app udating to be done. That took another 10+ minutes. I wonder if some have thought it is stuck on a startup loop, shut it down and tried again and screwed the install up?

Ps. if anyone on Lollipop is missing Gallery and don't want to install an ad-infested replica download Dayframe, it's a chromecast photo thingy but it has other uses for example if you want to find specific screenshots a download or from an application. Photos and other photo apps can do the editing.

Dayframe - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=clou...

It displays all the images on the device in oldstyle KitKat album names in the Library manager/Photo Gallery

FYI

"There's been much talk about how Android 5.0 will finally do some good for mediocre Android cameras. The new camera APIs allow apps to get RAW images off the sensor and process them into JPEGs, but where are all the apps to take advantage of it? There's L Camera, which is still in testing on GitHub, but Camera FV-5 has become the first app in the Play Store to support the new Lollipop camera features."

My 2013 N7 is now bugging me daily on the Notifications bar to upgrade to 5.0.1

Is there any way I can disable this or do I have to tap "Later" on a daily basis for evermore until I finally cave in?

Long press on the notification and highlight app info. Open that up and disable notifications.

My instructions are slightly wrong, when you get the Dead Android with its front open, you should have the folowing with the START

use the volume keys until you get to Recovery mode option, press the power button at this point.

The Select Wipe Cache Partition.
Got it, thanks. Still slow though.
I got a push upgrade to 5.0.1 last night - all sorted. This version works well on Nexus 10 if anyone is concerned.

I updated my N7 (2013) last night but only had a quick chance to try this morning, so far seems good and noticeably faster than Kit Kat in the quick play I had.

I've done both my 4 and 2013 7 (5.0.1). No problems at all and no performance issues. Seems rock solid.

Personally I'd force a check for system update of wait for OTA of 5.0.1. Side-loading seems to have contributed to some user's problems.

My new Nexus 5's arrived. Looking at the settings its come with 4.4.2 installed. How do I upgrade it to Lollipop? I upgraded to 4.4.3 restarted and it says 4.4.4 available to download...

Question -is my 5 really old stock?! (i.e 4.4.2 tune on there out of the box?)

Edited by hora on Thursday 11th December 13:48
It will always be supplied with the first OS it had then do incremental updates when you turn it on. As above wait for the OTA of 5.0.1.
