Just update it?

It actually works spot on for me. Only thing I had to do was remove/insert my sim card to get mobile Internet working again.

I don't have any need to update it. The phone works just how I like it at the moment, I have no issues or problems with it (maybe I am lucky), and my experiences of Lollipop on the N7 2012 is that there is a shedload of dicking about and "change for the sake of change" on the UI that I simply don't like. In short there is absolutely no compelling reason at all for me to upgrade. Until I find a feature on Lollipop that is "must have" or a show-stopping defect with KitKat that Lollipop will fix, then I'm staying with KitKat.

For the benefit of anyone else having the same annoyance, I finally found how to get my Moto G to STFU about constantly pestering me to update to Lollipop.

  1. Go to Settings -> Apps.
  2. Swipe to the side until you find the "All" tab (although the "Running" tab may be sufficient).
  3. Locate the MotorolaOTA app.
  4. Uncheck 'Show Notifications'
  5. Disable it
  6. Force Stop on it
Note: Simply unchecking 'Show Notifications' is not sufficient!

So 5.0.2 arrived on my first-gen (M7?) HTC One the other night. Seems good so far, significantly smoother and quicker than 4.4.3 and battery life does seem to have improved. It's difficult to see much change because of the Sense skin but I liked that anyway.

Like many, I don't like the new notification system on the lock screen; don't understand why they couldn't just keep the icons at the top left since they still have the status icons at the top right.

Only other thing - my Nexus 9 lets me wake up the screen by double-tapping on it. I thought that was an Android 5.x thing but the HTC One doesn't seem to do that. I haven't been able to find an option for that anywhere, have I missed something?

I eventually gave in and took the upgrade. I've regretted it ever since.

Buggy, slow interface, apps take many seconds to launch from pressing the icon, swiping is laggy. It's a mess, and I wish I could downgrade back to KitKat on the Moto G 5 inch.

On 4.4.4 on my Z3 Compact. Just tried (using ES File Explorer app on my phone) to copy a folder's content on my QNAP to a folder on the sdcard in my Z3C and get a message basically telling me I cannot in effect write to the sd card.

Having googled I've learnt this is a restriction built in to kitkat.

Apparently this restriction will be removed in Lollipop.

Can anyone confirm that they can write to their sd card via lollipop and ideally using ES File Explorer?

Thanks. smile

Same experience for me on Nexus 7 (2012). Appalling performance, wi-fi connectivity takes an age (works in a snap on my S4 Mini, same network). I have found that disabling the location services helps and if you re-enable them, don't agree to be tracked. Dreadful upgrade that I would not encourage anyone to do unless there is a must have feature (which I cannot find....). The imminent 5.1 update, due this month, says everything about the current releases.

I also have a One M7 and a Nexus 9. The double tap to wake thing needs support in the chipset (hence LG G2, M8, M9, N9) etc have it, but the M7 doesn't. There are apps that give you the same feature, but they wear the battery out faster...

02 now rolling out Lollipop to Moto G 1st gen.
I've just set it in motion. I hope I don't regret it.

I'll report back later.

I updated my Moto G on Tuesday, it borked a couple of older browsers Iused, but then tthey were old. Haven't noticed any other issues so far;screen colour is cooler but more neutral, think the battery has taken a slight hit, icons are all a bit smaller, apart from those minor issues it's great smile

All seems good, the constant rewriting of the homescreen hasn't happened since the update.
Battery is at 77% and been off charge since 08:00.
No complaints here.
