Don't know if anyone on here used the Get_Iplayer software? It was a program that let you download from BBC IPlayer and convert to MP3.

The BBC have now blocked this from working.

Does anyone else know of any other software I can use to download from the iplayer and save it as MP3? I'm not interested in TV just radio.

I use it on Ubuntu and yes, the BBC have changed the format of the metadata.

As a workaround, you can use the URL (well on linux you can), e.g.

get-iplayer http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b04mh6x6/woul... --modes=flashhd -o ~/Desktop --force

If you are using linux, then you paste the whole string into the command prompt.

Sorry - never used get-iplayer on windows though.

However the clever get-iplayer people have now released a new version that works with the new BBC feeds. smile

Yep, just paste it on the command line.

Open the shortcut from the start menu and it will spawn a cmd and automatically run its index feed retrieval, it's already in its own directory, so you just run the program with whichever parameters you need.

The wiki is a bit clearer if you need any help with parameters, there are a lot more than it lists when you use the shortcut ('get-iplayer helplong' also shows everything).

Thanks for posting this topic - It's a handy bit of software.

Just downloaded the windows version, and managed to download a show via the Web PVR however when I search the list of shows available doesn't reflect what I can find via the iplayer website. I've tried refreshing the cache, but no luck. Any ideas?

What's changed recently is that the indexing has stopped working so you can't search for programmes using Get_iPlayer, but as long as you know the PID, which you can get from the URL, you can still download it.

I'm sure it was done purely to punish users of get_iplayer and other 3rd party solutions, and "tough st" to anybody else using them for any other reason. The reasons are rubbish, serving RSS is very lightweight and maintaining a feed converted from a modern back-end is pretty straightforward for anyone, let alone the resources of the BBC should they have wanted to.

Thats starting to make some sense now, although the index in the web PVR showed things that only appeared last night yet was missing older stuff.

Managed to get a recording via the command line and PID now although signed versions of shows do seem to confuse it (or quite possibly my use of it!)
