Alternatives to BT Infinity - price rises!
Discussion
We pay around £38 for our BT line & BT Infinity, but with the news that both the line rental & the fibre optic is going up it is time to jump ship I think. They have been good to date, no real outages to speak of but they do seem to be several quid more then most of he others on offer.
Plus.net seems to be the cheapest with BT line rental (£16ish) then £15 a month, with first 6 months free.
Can anyone offer any other suggestions? Just after Fibre optic 38mb with unlimited usage.

They do, and come up cheapest actually at around £15 for 38mb then 6 months free + BT line rental. Seems like the best bet.

Plusnet Fibre is great, just had it installed myself. There is no technical difference between BT Infinity and Plusnet Fibre

BT won't even come close to matching their new customer offers nor Plus.net's price. 2.5 years with them...
Could I cancel then get a new contract under the wife's name for starting a few days later?
In theory yes. I did the same, except.... line/account due to be cancelled on a Tuesday, and new account to go live on the Wednesday, so guess how long it actually all took!Could I cancel then get a new contract under the wife's name for starting a few days later?
- 2 weeks for line to go live,
- 2 further weeks with only copper broadband as the "exchange was full"
- overcharged for all of it
- now capping the line speed at 40Meg instead of the 80Meg we are paying for (had a stable 75Meg line speed for 3 years so don't see why it should now be capped lower).
All in all... a massive pain in the arse, still unresolved 6months later, and no end in site just to get us back to where we were. Saved around £300 though but at the moment the hassle didn't seem worth it!
