Apple CarPlay

I had a quick play with this earlier on and think I'm going to buy one of the aftermarket headunits for my MR2.

Has anyone else managed to have a go with it yet?

As far as I can see, only Pioneer and Alpine have Apple Carplay on head unit's you can buy from a car audio dealer.

Was it a preview version if you are in the UK? - release date for the UK is slated as mid december 2014.

Or did you use it whilst in the USA where it's already been released?

Yes, it was one of the first batch (already sold out) - they have got videos of it on their social media sites.

I'm just trying to find out if it will work with an external DAB module.

If you can, run airplay in the car? Might be a cheaper option?

CarPlay is quite a bit different to AirPlay as the user interface changes to be optimised for in car use.

The CarPlay headunits aren't too expensive either, as a lot of the processing power is in the phone.

I've not come across anything like that, generally the single DIN motorised touch screens aren't great to use due to the lack of rigidity in the screen.
